Direct3d broken, menus draw slowly

Hi all, maybe you can help me with this.

I have OOTP6 installed on my ancient windows machine. Win2k, 600mhz duron, 384mb RAM, GeForce2 MX 200 graphics card. Everything was hunky-dory until I ran Windows Update for the first time in ages last night.

One of the updates was an NVIDIA graphics acceleration update. After installing it, I can no longer use Direct3d mode with OOTP6. When I switch it off, the game starts, but the menus take MUCH longer to draw themselves on screen.

Any advice?

I would try turning off "Menu Animation" in the Game Options.
