CatoBase and Historical Leagues Driving Me Crazy
OK, this is really getting me frustrated now. I decide to play a new league, starting in 1901. I finish the first season, and try to import the stats into CatoBase. I get the error message that there is an unusual character at line 48 of players.csv. The guy has a nickname "The tabasco kidRR" So I open it in in notepad, change it, save is as players.csv, and close it. I reopen it just to make sure, and the error has been fixed.
Then I run Import Stats again, and it gets the same error! I check the csv, and the error is back! HOW?? It must be accessing some other file, getting the bad nickname, and putting it back into the csv file. How do I change this??? Also, jcato has said its best to go into the game and change the guy's nickname in the game. But I play manager mode, and you can't edit nicknames on players not on your team. So what can I do? Please, help me. I'm just a poor lost soul searching for a little help. |

Why not just use the manager mode utility to turn it off and change the nickname?

Well, if I turn off manager mode, I lose my career. And I'm going to have to do this every year when new players are imported who have screwed up nicknames. Basically, doing what you say would make it impossible to play in manager mode.

After you edit the CSV file, uncheck the export button under options.

Hey! It worked! Yay! Now, when do I turn export back on? Before I import the next season?

OK, I got past players.csv, but now I get new errors. Who'd of thunk?
It goes smoothly until pitch_career.csv, when I get an error saying Subscript out of range. Then, it continues until Updating Fields and I get an error saying: Run-time Error '13': Type Mismatch It then crashes. Why does this never work smoothly for me... I don't know about those errors, but you would turn the export feature back on before importing the next season.

Make sure you're simulating minors, I know there is a problem if you don't because minor league records will be 0-0.

I always "fix" the nicknames of the incoming rookies during the draft in the game that way there is no problem later. Also if you notice a "long" place of birth then you might want to click on it and make sure it won't cause trouble later.
Catobase is the BEST OOTP add on out there! |

QUOTE] After you change the nickname in the CSV and reimport it back, go to the player and see if the nickname changed when you go to the next season. Just edit it in the game and if will be okay. Also do a check on birth locations if they are to long just change them. |
