Lyle Overbay has got to be in this list as well. Batting .340 with 61 RBIs.

This name should turn some heads...Scott Hatteberg. Giambi should do the honourable thing and stay home to think up his next ailment and let somebody more deserving go...either Hatte or Thomas (if he doesn't get in with the vote).

Hatteberg's numbers are great especially when you put them next to Giambi's...and for a weak class of AL firstbaseman, he's at/near the top of most categories. Definitely having a career year.

Dye is another name that hasn't really been mentioned much...but, he's put up some pretty good numbers...definitely more deserving than Lawton and the same probably goes for Sheffield.

Yeah...I'm an A's fan...but, the numbers don't lie.

i dont think dye's average is there.... but def. giambi doesnt deserve the nod at first, same with jeter at short. damn yankee fans

Jason Giambi is still the 4th best first baseman in the AL. Hafner, Thomas, and Ortiz being essentially tied for first.

It's not the greatest fan selection, but it's a lot better than a manager, who should know better, taking Moises Alou over Abreu, Dunn, or Drew.

I don't see a problem at all with Jeter being on the team. First off, he was voted in by the fans. When you look at snubs, you're looking at oversights on the bench by the managers.

It'd be one thing if Tejada was voted in and Michael Young didn't get put on the roster but Jeter did. That's not what happened. Jeter got in through votes, and Young, Tejada, and Guillen all made the roster as well.

Jeter's not batting .200 any more. His numbers are among the top five AL shortstops.

Dye's BA is .293...a whopping 1 point lower than Sheffield's after today's game...what the hell is wrong with that?? Dye's numbers put him in the top 10 outfielders in the AL for sure...and he's probably around 4 or 5 now that Beltran has changed leagues. Ichiro, Crawford, and Lawton are looking up at him on that list...if they are even included. Heck, Matsui is ahead of all three of those guys but he's notably absent as well...mind you, he will probably get the nod from the vote today.

Konerko, Teixeira, Hatteberg, and even Tino have had better seasons than Giambi. So, I'd probably put Giambi a little further down the list than 4th.

I don't think Giambi's having a great year, but he's as hurt by his home park as Konerko is helped by it. Giambi is hitting .271/.413/.571 on the road. Konerko is hitting .262/.324/.446 on the road.

Edit: Park factors would seem to explain why Thomas/Konerko are taking it in the face win share wise. Yankee stadium is playing at a 95 park factor this year, Comsiskey at 118, which puts it behind only Colorado and Texas at 153 and 132.

I think that's the dilemma for allstar selections. I think you can even make a case for the managers to take more popular players over more productive players.

And you know what, since we all know the key for star setting in OOTP6 is not to put too much weight on the stats this year, I don't know why some would keep insisting it's all about this year for the allstar selection. Even ordinary fans know to rely on the established level more.

Overbay is pretty obvious mistake, batting .340 w/ 61 RBI's and the only bright spot in the entire Milwaukee regular lineups (Sheets and Kolb have been pleasant surprises as well).

How has this name not been thrown around---Eric Milton! He is 11-2. Also Paul Konerko. He's got 21 HR and 55 RBI. Melvin Mora should've got selected as well, his injury isnt that serious and definitely could have played in the Mid Summer Classic.
