CIBL Needs You for 1984 - 3 Teams Open
The Classic Internet Baseball League (CIBL) is in its 5th season, 1984. Today is actually the 1st anniversary of our inaugural sim in 1980 (July 7, 2003).
The following 3 teams are available: Seattle Mariners, 14-13 Best player: 25 year old Wade Boggs, their 1st overall pick in 1982. He hit .360 and .353 in his 1st 2 seasons. Other notables (age): CF Willie Wilson (28), 1B Leon Durham (26), and LF Pete O'Brien (26). They have the 2nd best farm in the majors, with guys like Danny Tartabull and Mel Hall among 5 guys in the top 30 prospects overall. Minnesota Twins, 8-19 Best Player: Take your pick: Bob Horner, 26, 5.0 or SP Ed Whitson, 28, 10 in ERA, 5.0 Other notables: Tony Pena, Steve Balboni, Buddy Bell. 10th best farm includes an 18 year old Jose Rijo. Los Angeles Dodgers, 9-23 Bad news: the team is awful so far Good news: This team won the W.S. in the league's first year in '80. Payroll is 49 mil with 46 mil available cap room. $16 mil can come off the books at the end of the year so you will have total financial flexibility to remake this team and recapture its former glory. Best players: Dusty Baker, Dave Henderson, Dennis "El Presidente" Martinez. 4 players in top 100 led by 23 year old SP Ron Darling. Notes 1.We are using OOTP5 and are waiting until BOSI is fully ready for OOTP6 (no bugs) before switching. 2. In the interest of parity, there is a $95 mil salary cap which will drop to $90 in two years. There is a minimum broadcasting revenue of $30 million and a cash max of $10 million (under discussion to increase to $15 million). To join: Leave a message in the forum (Waiting List) and you will be contacted. If you are uncertain about your ablity to be active, please do not apply. The league is pretty stable and would like to keep the guys together for a long time. Thanks, Tito O's GM A.L. President PS I'm not sure what the default theme is, but try Sand_Journey. I don't like the dark themes. Last edited by Tito; 07-07-2004 at 01:46 PM. |

Great League ... Great people! Seattle was handled by a very shrewd GM who was building for the future (by looks of the curent lineup the future might be now!) and most were sorry to see George go (with the possible exception of the AL West competition). Minn GM was also fairly astute (though not nearly as open with comments, views, etc.). LA has been sorry since they won the WS. Most of the other GM's are extremely active. Typical of postings on subjects of interest (note 10 differant owners are represented):

I'd love to try to rebuild the Dodgers. I'll send you an e-mail when I get home from work.

We are DEFINITELY converting to OOTP6 as soon as we are assured that all aspects can be transferred smoothly. As an owner, you would have a say in the matter! |

Cardinals GM here. I just wanted to say that this league is a lot of fun. Especially if you grew up watching baseball in the 80s. This is your opportunity to manage those players you like and trade the ones you didn't.
![]() The competition only adds to the excitement of the league. We've got a good bunch of owners who have been around for a while and look forward to adding more. Chris |
