Trivia Question - No looking this one up!

Over the course of Babe Ruth's career, he led his team in home runs (or was tied for the lead) most of the time, but not every single season.

Can you name all of the teammates of Babe Ruth who led the team in home runs, beating out the Babe? Bonus points if you can get the year(s) any of them did it.

Lou Gehrig is my first guess, but no clue on any year.

Don't forget his pitching days and that Boston Braves season.

Lou Gehrig is a correct answer. Surprisingly, he only led the Yankees in homers once during Ruth's tenure there - in 1934, when he outhomered the Babe 49-22.

There are still several more answers to this question.

Meusel in 25, Berger in 35. Outside of that, I don't know. When he was pitching on the Sox, I can't think of anyone on the team who had power at the time. Hell, i'd be shocked if he didn't lead the team or come close as a pitcher. So although there were probably some years in there where someone else led him... I don't know them.

edit: Don't think i'm a baseball trivia genius. I just had to do a lot of Ruth-related research when I was deciding what historical team i wanted to be in a league. I was trying to find best Yankee teams and I noticed Ruth sucked by Ruth standards in 25... and out of curiosity, checked out how badly he did in Boston at the end of his career. So although I didn't cheat... i did look this up on baseball reference a few weeks ago.

Tris Speaker in 1914 is correct.

So are Bob Meusel in 1925 and Wally Berger in 1935. There is one more answer.

Well done..... Harry Hooper is the final answer. He hit 3 home runs to lead the Red Sox in 1917.
