OOTP5 Crash in FA on just one team

I've been running my online league for the past year using OOTP5 with little to no problems. This is the first time I've had to come to tech support with a game issue, since I'm totally baffled.

We are in the free agent signing period before the 2007 season, and we have a new GM for the New York Yankees (Team 3). The first set of offers (Days 1-3) went without a hitch. He contacted me about a problem he was having in making offers for Day 4, where he would right-click on a player to make an offer, it would ask for his password, and then the game crashed when he would enter it.

We thought it might be a password problem, but when I tried it on my end, his password worked. Then he emailed the offers for me to place for him, and when I tried doing it, it also crashed on me every time I right-clicked on a player. I tried advancing a few days to see if maybe it was a freak thing with Day 4, since 1-3 worked, but no luck on that. I also reset his password but that didn't work either. I'm not sure how to remedy this situation, so any help is appreciated. If you want to check it out and download the league file, the link to the main page is here: http://hcbl.ootp-leagues.com

Thanks,
Jeff

Emergency Bump...

I don't want to be a pest, but the thread has only had 1 other view besides my own, and without any possible direction or help, we really can't move on in the league.

Has this team or players been edited, (I'm talking legally even)?

Steve,

Not to my knowledge. I haven't edited any of the players or team data. Whether or not the GM did is unbeknownst to me. As far as I know, the only thing that he changed was the manager name in Team Setup, but that has never been a problem in the past.

This issue, albeit extremely rare, was reported here a couple of times after one of the patches was released. There never was a final explanation or fix for this oddity that I can remember. Try a seach, maybe the leagues involved came with a solution.

Does anybody have any idea how to fix this problem? It'd be a shame for a long-running league to end just because nobody could help with this issue.

Let me suggest making a dummy yankees team and either using that one to either sign free agents and then trade them to the real yanks (delete the team once FA is over) or move all the yanks players to the dummy team and call it the yanks and delete the old yanks team.

Thanks for the suggestion, Sebastion. As you know, it's what we have decided to do (the first one). Just updating this news for the rest of the board and for archival purposes, since there was no apparent fix for the crash.

We've finally made it opening day (don't ask) and we're still having problems. I made a new Yankees team (used the ingame exporter to move players) and the game crashes when trying to sim. If I try and play the game out, it doesn't crash till I attempt to have the first pitch thrown.

It's 5.14B.

Steve:

I'm not expecting you to fix the problem but if you could just tell me what it could be.

The best I can remember, this had something to do with either a team that had been edited or an unknown reason. Have you tried sending the league file to Markus?

After doing some research into our league file problems, I'm fairly certain the file "teams2.dat" seems to be the one that is corrupted.

I think I have figured out a solution, but I need somebody with more in-depth knowledge of the files to let me know if this would work. My thought was to create a new league and then copy the teams2.dat file to our league. What I need to know is what information is included in this file? It appears that the Front Office financials information is one of the things.

If we can know everything contained in this file, what we can do is copy the uncorrputed file and just manually input all the previous financial information.

This may be confusing. I'm not sure I even know what I'm saying, but does this sound like a possibility that could work? Markus may be the only one to know what goes into the file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
