Arguing calls

I find this whole idea annoying. Only bad things happen to you, so why bother? If Im wrong please correct me, but if not that feature could certainly go away and I'd be real happy.

What good does it do in real life? Sometimes it just makes me feel better after I've been "screwed" a couple of times.

A few problems with this comment. First, in real life a manager can pick and choose how he argues. Sometimes a manager is obviously going to try and get kicked out (to either protect his player, get the team into the game, whatever). Other times he's going out to plead his case but won't say anything silly enough to get tossed. It's really not that random. In OOTP, it is.

I find the option to argue calls in OOTP pointless because it really doesn't do anything. While the real life effect isn't quantifiable, there is some effect. In OOTP it just prevents the user from playing out the rest of the game.

How do you know there are no effects? It may be there are hidden effects. This was widely discussed when the option was introduced in OOTP5, and Markus never commented on it. I still feel my players seem to play a little better, or the umps seem to grant more close calls to me, after I "win" an arguement (that is, get to continue playing).

My only problem with the arguing of calls in the game has to do w/ player arguments and ejections early in games. Milton Bradley aside, it's very rare for players to get in the face of umpires in early innings(especially rookies or minor leaguers up for a cup of coffee), but it's happened to me a lot. I don't know how the game is programmed, but I feel like the tempo of the game or a build up of bad calls by the ump should be more of a factor.
