This board is your manual. I wish everyone would just fess up and admit it. Have a problem? Consult the board. Works the same. Just takes a little longer to find your answer.

If you read the manual, you should have known where it is and wouldn't have to ask.

For what it's worth, here's the situation.

The manual was slated for a complete re-write, but the resources working on it got sidetracked with a new job. We are currently trying to reassign resources to complete it. We apologize for the delay and inconvienience, and we're doing what we can to move this thing forward. It was never our intention that this much time would pass. I'll try to keep you informed as anything new transpires.

Not looking for anyone to fan the flames here. I responded to a question, and apologized for the inconvienience. I would appreciate folks not trying to start a flame war.

yeh thats asllwelland good - but in the attempt to attract NEW owners and LOYAl customers, a MANUAL would help alot. It should be considered as aprt of the process.
Older users of V5 etc have a semblance of how thigns work in the game - but even their vast knowledge is strained by the lack of info.
yeh just a thought

Just hope this is the last time we have to wait for a manual.

Next year, OOTP:SI will be released with no new features but MLB licensed!!! So no new manual is needed!!!!

It just seems that resources are allocated to other areas without delay but completion of a manual is always put on the back burner.

It just isn't the right thing to do. Nuff said.

(Sigh)... let me explain.

Previous to the merger with SI, Markus was(is) a one man shop. The game is developed(coded) by him exclusively. About 2 months before release, Beta versions are distributed to the Beta team and testing begins. Multiple Beta versions are created and tested until release.

At that point, someone (other than Markus, since he has to work on patches) is assigned the manual. This is a volunteer assignment (remember the size of this operation). Under normal circumstances, this may take up to another month. This year, however, the manual required a complete rewrite since so many significant changes were made.

In this case, the person assigned ran into a "life change". Believing he could still complete the task, he kept plugging away - but recently realized the scope of the task was larger than expected and his time had become too limited.

We are thus currently arranging to have that task reassigned so it can be completed.

The fact that the manual is a voluntary task, and that it has to be started after the game's completion are the result of the size of the organization. I am assuming the merger with SI was, in part, to help improve this situation.

My understanding is Steve is going to try to work on the project while on vacation and I will do what I can, but I'm also doing some research for Markus and trying to stay on top of the board here.

We'll see what happens over the next couple weeks and then take another look.

That would be new and different.

I'm not sure they're up to it, Henry.
