Persistant Custom League Crash
I've been experiencing the same application crash since I first downloaded v6 (all the way up through v.6.02a (I haven't tried 6.03 yet)). The issue seems to be isolated to custom leagues. I've tried creating a 24 team custom league with a fantasy draft four times. Each time I'm able to create the league structure, complete the draft, and tweak my team's setup (rosters, lineups, financials, etc.). However, whenever I:
a) Attempt to simulate a day, week, month, whatever; or b) Finish playing my team's first game and return to the schedule screen; or c) Attempt to sim one or more innings of my team's first game I receive a hard application error and OOTP crashes. I don't have any issues with an OOTP5 league I've imported or when playing the canned 2004 league. Whether I start in manager mode or not doesn't seem to matter. My OS is XP and I'm playing with the Ankit stadium graphic set and the CBL 2004 v.2 roster set. I've tried reinstalling the application several times to no avail. I'm at a loss and have given up. Any ideas? Thanks, |

I've seen this before and the problem seems to be with using the "roster set" and not the custom leagues altogether.

I'm having the same problem...After getting everything customized and ready to go, I can't play more than two games in the season without crashing every time I try to sim a day. Any solutions to the crashing! By the way I've got Windows Xp, on a brand new computer with plenty of room...

Suggestion... try creating a new fictional, new custom, or new historical league. If all three of these work without crashing, then the roster set is somehow at fault.

I solved my xp crashes with playing the game in "windows 2000" compatability believe it or not. Right click on the desktop icon, go to properties, compatability and change that and see if it helps. I was getting very frequent crashes, none so far w/that change.

I'm going to try a different roster set this week, it sounds like that may be the variable causing the problem. I'll post again after my experiment.

No luck. I tried a different roster set and get the same results with custom leaguess. I uninstalled/reinstalled and used the default roster set in teh Create folder and get the same results. I simply cannot sim beyond day one with a custom league. I don't have the option to change compatability to Win 2000. Is anyone else seeing this? I'm really not able to play the game at all.

Where do you have the game installed? I've had no problems creating custom leagues and using them.

My install is in C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP 6
I haven't uninstalled OOTP5 yet (it's in the C:\Program Files\400 Software ... directory. Not sure if this matters, or if I'm having a conflict with other software. |

You might want to try uninstalling it and then reinstalling in a different directory, something like c:\Program Files\OOTP6 and see if you keep getting the same crash. It might not be uninstalling every file.

I tried installing to a seperate directory. No dice. I appreciate the help, guys. I suspect this is just one those cases the combination of some software already installed is causing a conflict. It doesn't sound like this is a common issue, at any rate. I was able to import my OOTP5 custom league and use it just fine, so perhaps I'll just have to create a new one in there, then bring it over.
If the issue can't be repeated by anyone but me, there ain't much that can be done to fix it. If anyone else runs into something similar, please add it to this post. Cheers, and thanks again for the suggestions. |
