SERIOUS Software Glitches?

Hey all, new to the system, so this may have been discussed several times in this forum already, but I bought OOTP6, and I'm playing it all the time, but I have so many little problems that MUST be glitches...there's no way people as smart as the makers of this game could have intentionally programmed some of this stuff this way....for instance, all of the menus in the game, every single drop down menu, is transparent. All there is is words, no background behind them, and it makes the words VERY hard to see...is that a problem in anyone else's version of the game, or is it just mine? Also, the same lack of background is present in other areas, my email messages, for instance, so I can hardly read them...also, when I delete one of them, the message I deleted becomes a screwup background for the NEXT message, making two transparent background messages on top of one another, so the words are completely garbled and I have to keep closing it every time I delete a message and reopening it....and perhaps the MOST frustrating is IN GAME, the PbP...it is ALSO with a transparent background, so I STILL can't see what's going on, even in PbP...I have to listen to how the FANS REACT...are these glitches normal for everyone, or is it just me, and in either of those scenarios, wth do I do? Thanks for any help, guys and gals.

Go into "game config" in ootp folder, toggle 3D setting. For most if not all issues mentioned.

I'm assuming OOTP uses DirectX for the sound, which would mean you need to update your drivers I would think.

Out of total curiousity (and impishness), has anyone ever experiened "casual" software glitches?

Seriously though, I'd agree with bonedwarf. Also, if you happen to have updated your computer's operating system and have your old sound card, several of the "generic" sound cards are not fully supported by XP (I experienced that, myself, an finally sprang the extra bucks for something modern).

The sound isn't that great. It works fine for me, but I turn it off.

Works great for me too, except I think it slows the PbP too much, so I play with it off and WinAmp crankin'.

If the next patch doesn't REALLY kill the bugs in OOTP6 then I'm going back to OOTP5. I just ordered the new Diamond Mind 9 as a backup.

I am new to the game as well as of about a month now, and I have experienced no problems from day 1. Not even the slow down that so many people have talked about, and by no means do I have anything close to a great system. As far as your problem Smoothie, make sure you have current drivers and proper settings for your video card. On top of that check your window settings, transparency settings could conceivably cause a problem as this game runs in a window. Although I seriously doubt the latter is a problem.
