I think Jimmy Barry was rated way back by djday(?) in the early part of the non-HW string. He's in the encyclopedia at CornerWork.com

Thanks for the ideas, Mike. May have to do Kapilow and "The Omaha Kid" (my family is from that area) as soon as I finish the 1980s thing I'm wading through. My poor, neglected 1940s universe also recently got a couple of other heavyweights I hadn't come across, courtesy of Rocco and Crusade.
