anyone else care less about playoffs?

i've been playing a solo league for about 65 seasons now, and i make roster moves and financial decisions based on trying to win the world-series, but once i get to the playoffs, i just hit the sim-postseason buttonb and care less what happens. but during the regular season i simulate each day individualy and look at all my teams box-scores and adjust my roster accordingly. but when the big show comes in october... i care less.

am i weird, or are there others like me?

are there also people who get perms whenever the neighbor's bring home a case of pepsi like me?

Hmmm....that is pretty weird. If anything, I think I am like most people in that I pay more attention to the postseason. Of course, you are anything but normal.

I pay close attention to both and if my team is in the postseason then I'm very interested in how we do...

I sim by week during the regular season looking at all the box scores. Then when I get to the playoffs I usually play out all the games. When I'm close to making the World Series I want to be the one in control of my team.

No, actually I don't pay much attention to the post season games. I'm interested far more in the results, than how they were achieved.

I suppose I could have my teams scratch out another win every now and again by constructing 'opponent specific' line-up's for each play-off match-up but frankly, I don't really feel it's worth the effort. My solo league teams do fine without it! Consider it a personal handycap to increase the challenge.

Im more of a stat-freak. Making the postseason is always my number one priority, but once I get there I dont play the games out and rather sim, as I am eager to get to the postseason.

It doesn't really hit me in OOTP, but I know in NCAA '04 and sometimes Madden I get sick of my team for a given year and sim the playoffs so I can get to the offseason. In OOTP I usually pay a bit more attention to the playoffs than the regular season. I would guess that your rationale would be that you've made all the important decisions you can, you just want to get back to the point where you've got to make use of your sense of strategy.

I'm sort of similar. I care, in that I feel bad when my team loses, but I really feel like Billy Beane here - I don't manage the games, and even if I did, my ***t don't work in the postseason. I can contruct a great roster, get great prospects, make tons of money, and reach the postseason, but once there, well, anybody can win a 5-or-7 game series. It's such a huge crapshoot.

So no, I don't care as much. Success during the regular season is far more important for me.

I play out all my team's post season games, whereas during the regular season I only play out opening day, critical september games, and maybe one or 2 other games during the season.

I also have my playoffs set up as 3 rounds of best of 7. Its a tough grind tying to win 12 ball games, no matter how good your team is.

I agree about the whole Madden and NCAA idea, after a few complete seasons the offseasons are almost more fun then playing the games! But in OOTP I always play out all my playoff games, I feel like I've accomplished nothing unless I win the World Series and see the cheesy "C U Next Year" phrase.

I do one game at a time for my solo season, both regular season and postseason. It gives me more of that reading-the-sports-section-every-morning feel.

In "real life" (whatever that is) I'm a Braves fan, so it probably won't surprise you to learn that I, too, am more interested in the day-to-day action of the regular season than the short post-season. I'm also more interested in stats and the careers of the players in my solo league, which the post-season impinges on only marginally. So while I do play out the World Series game, I tend not to find them any more gripping than working my way through a three-week stretch in July with no off days.

It's quite simple really.

I play out all my teams games, and all the rest are simmed.

You figure it out .
