Mantei let up 4 runs and only got one out. The Diamondbacks did not hit well. Sexson (1-4) had a double, and Hillenbrand(1-4) had a double. Cintron with high expectations led off the game 0-4. D. Sadler replaed Danny Bautista in the 3rd who hurt his arm while diving for a catch. Sadler hit a triple, and had an SB. Rockies CF Rene Reyes won the Player of the Game Honors with 4 rbis ( 2-4). Another solid start, Bullpen just escapes.
The bullpen again almost failed the dbacks, as Mike Koploze lets up 5 runs in the 8th. The Diamondbacks hitting was on. Randy Johnson was fine and pitched a great game. In 6 innings, Randy let up two runs, and had nine strikeouts. C.Tsao pitching for the Rockies was yanked after 4.2 innings. He gave up 5 runs. Koploved pitched 1.1 innings while letting up 5 runs. The Diamondbacks just gave him enough cushion. Sexson commited the first error of the season. Luis Gonzales hit great (3-4) with a double, 2 runs, and one rbi. Sexson and Hillenbrand got another double. Sexson, and Finley hit 2 Rbi's a piece. The Rockies also hit well Helton (2-5) hit a HR. Reyes( Game 1 MVP) went 1-6 with a run. The Player of the game goes to Alex Cintron. He hit 2-5 with 2 runs and 3 rbis. He hit a 431 foot Home Run. |

Everyone has a chance in this division so don't worry if the team starts off slow.
Good luck with the D'backs.

Stark outduels Essens in a pitchers game
The two runs scored by the rockies were enough to give them the win Dessens pitched well. In 7.2 innings he let up 2 runs and 4 hits. Valverde and Mantei did not let up any runs, this was a major improvement for the bullpen. Sexson got the only run of the game, hitting a solo shot(1), and getting his 4th rbi of the season.Baerga got a single, and finley got a triple, and those were the only hits for the Dbacks. Helton and Pellow scored the runs for the Rockies. Player of the Game honors go to Rockies SP: D. Starks who pitched 6.2 innings and let up 3 hits, and one run. Bobby Estella(Catcher) was battling for starting position with Brent Mayne. Estella batting a mere .111 after 3 games, position may be in jeopardy. An update on Danny Bautista's arm injury, he bruised it and he will be out for two weeks. D. Sadler will replace him. |

Diamondbacks lose in late innings again
Dbacks bullpen blow another in the ninth The score was 5-5 in the ninth, and Choate let up the go ahead run, for the diamondbacks to lose 6-5. Brandon Webb plane got delayed to take him to Arizona, and he did not get the start. Casey Diagle did. Diagle was taken out after 4.2 innings after getting bombed for 5 runs. The bullpen was looking great till the ninth. Ansman, who refuses to fly, drove and was able to make the game. This was unfortunate, cause he was 0-4 with 2 K's. Gonzales (2-4) with 2 runs and a solo shot. M. Kata also hit a HR. Alex Cintron got caught twice stealing, although he stole successfully once. Sadler also got a stolen base. Scott Rolen and Mark Quinn hit HR's for Cards. Quinn won P.O.T.G honors going 1 for 5 with a GRAND SLAM! Ankiel let up 5 runs and was taken out after 5. Diamondback fans remain restless, as they are 1-3. ( Full update on the league after this series) Last edited by soc624; 06-07-2004 at 08:35 PM. |

Arizona, another a loss in the ninth...
A tie game and the Cards score one in the ninth to go ahead. This is another game where the pitcher in the ninth, lets up a run in the ninth to lose the game. The score was three to three in the ninth, and Randolph came in and allowed a solo shot to Jim Edmonds. Fossum started the game and in seven innings, let up three runs and recorded eight K's. Morris started for the Cards, and he also let up 3 runs in 7 innings. Sexson hit a HR for the Dbacks. Cintron went 2-4. Alomar, Kata and PH Greg Colbrunn all hit a double. Cintron got his 2nd stolen base of the season. Quinn and Edmonds ( p.o.t.g) hit Hr's for the other teams. The Diamondbacks have lost 3 in a row, and their bullpen has ruined four games. |

Diamondbacks avoid sweep, win in extra innings
The diamondbacks bullpen held up nicely. Brandon Webb got his first start today, he pitched 6 innings and let up 2 runs, and had eight strikeouts. A combo of five different bullpen pitcheres were able to hold out the rest of the game into the 12th, letting up 7 hits and 1 run. Steve Finley had a nice game,he hit 3 for 6, with a run, double and a stolen base. Sexson hit 2-5 with 2 RBI's and won player of the game honors. The Diamondbacks won there second game! They improve their record to 2-4 W: S. Nance L: J. Deckard |

Which roster set are you using?
I'm using CBL Cardinals version 1.3 in OOTP5... if it means anything, the D-Backs are currently 48-24 in my Boston Red Sox dynasty. They're on a 12-game win streak and are leading the NL West by 8 games or so... They traded away a couple guys for RF Tim Salmon, which I found interesting. Bautista starts in CF, and Finley comes off the bench. Robbie Alomar is a great lead-off guy (hitting about .315), and Valverde has 20 saves... If only in real life... |

High Scoring Party, Bullpen manages to lose again.
A slugfest from the start of the game, the score finished at 11-10. Randy pitched 5 innings and let up 5 runs. Then a combonation of 5 other pitchers let up 6 runs. S.Randolph got the Lost to fniish it off. Baerga hit the only HR for the Dbacks, he also had 3 rbis. Logo, and Alomar had 2 rbis. Dont feel like writing more for this game, I need to do something bout the bullpen........... |
