Secondly, I'm not usually the first to resort to personal attacks. I resent that. I'm coming off like a jackass because I am a jackass. I realize that I'm crossing the line. I just don't know how else to deal with these people. I guess I'll just start ignoring them. It's not true that I think I'm smarter than everyone. Not 99% of the board, for sure. But I'm definitely smarter than 10%. I can list names if you'd like. THE POINT: I just get frustrated when people won't answer an argument on the merits, or when somme legitimate discussion devolves into "nyah nyah, I'm right." It seems that an inordinate number of threads have been going that way, as if all of the political junk has collapsed into Talk Sports. Really well-written post, Eck. I especially liked the phrase "ignorant savages" - conjures up a good image. |

Hey, I am all for dprestwood being a self admitted "jackass".
It's kind of refreshing having someone play a role closer to his real personality rather than all the vanilla, uninspiring, fakers around here playing a straight-up nice guy! Keep up the good work! I only wish there was another Minnesota team worthy of your support so we could continue these debates. I guess we'll have to wait until next spring when the NBA playoffs begin anew. The good news is with the Timberwolves departure from the playoffs this week, rather than lasting until the Championship is that those unattractive, chubby Timberwolves Dance Team girls can try and get into swimsuit shape before the dog days of summer.

You try to fall back on your field of study and where you go as an excuse. There are no questions from you for me to answer. The Lakers did so; and you also prove your points wrong by showing your moronic comments. Get a freakin' life. |

EDIT - I'm guessing based on the smiley that you were being facetious.

OK, back to basketball.... I'm guessing Detroit will move on so looking forward to seeing them and the Lakers (won't make a prediction though)

So you're JBlaze's alias? That would explain a lot. You still haven't answered my questions in other threads, i.e. why you're comparing the Wolves to the Yankees. |

I would like to rebuke OOTPD for their decision to limit smilies. Sure, this incident passed by without a hitch - correctly spotted by Iatric. But what if Dagrims had made a second comment, like: 'He was talking about Everquest. You should have used your +1 sword' This could have been the end of the Dagrims' promising OOTP career. He would have been shredded. BRING BACK SMILIES, MULTIPLE. |

Shaq gets away with murder in the paint. I've never seen a player that gets so many non- 3 second calls in my life. I know shaq is a big dude, but when he is in the paint, he throws his body around alot, and he very rarely gets called for fouls when he does, which is wrong, because he should be.
I think it is funny that the 'Laker fans' are complains that there was a lot of call's against the lakers in that game. However, i dont think i saw a 2 bad fouls called all game. And that goes for the Timberwolves and Lakers. The Laker fans complaining is just funny, the best team in the league, FOUR hall of fame players, and you guys have to cry about bad officiating? I know nothing at all about the NBA, but something of interest...
We have a lot of problems in Scotland with referees getting attacked in the street by Rangers or Celtic fans, having their housed covered in graffitti, lives made living hell etc. Both teams feel that referees, in the big Old Firm matches, are biased against them. How can this be? The other teams in the league never get any decisions against them when playing the big two. How do referees become biased against a club when they were previously biased for them. Well, I reckon that good teams, by their nature, get a lot of calls their way. Partly that's skill at drawing them, partly its the benefit of the doubt they get, partly its because its less hassle for the official to award in favour of a big team, because they'll get less post-match criticism afterwards. Well, what happens in the big games, and especially playoff scenarios, is that you get two good teams (both of whom all season long have got more of their fair share of calls, or else they wouldn't have been as good teams!) playing against each other. Thus, the advantages go away. This impact is quadrupled by the fact that things they got away in the regular season (as a big club) are now called as infringements because they are now playing against a team who gets an equal amount of calls. This is seen when Scottish football clubs play abroad - they feel that refs are biased against them because they never get any decisions, but its actually that they get away with murder normally. Thus, might it be argued that both these teams are used to helpful officiating, and the reason why they are both so pissed is that now they are playing against another big team the officiating is fair but the disparity is so great it looks like bias? Any other examples you can think of? |
