Just out of curiousity - what would be the reaction if you wrote a note saying this to someone at your law school? Even assuming this is meant metaphorically, it's still really offensive. It's also pretty ironic that you're upset over his attacks on you given the fact that you are generally the first to resort to personal attacks.

There's no denying that you're a pretty intelligent guy - but you wield that intelligence as though it were something to awe the ignorant savages (which, to you, seems to comprise the 99% of the population who dares to disagree with you at some point) into awed silence. In truth, Akrobat can be forgiven for assuming you're a teenager - most of your posts in recent weeks do not betray any hint of intelligence. Were it not for your occasional on-topic substantive point before veering off into shrillness, I'd be forced to conclude that your talk of lofty LSAT scores and top ten law schools was just that - talk. As it is, it's clearly true - but you're hardly enhancing the reputation of a good legal education with your recent behavior. On the contrary, you're coming off looking like a jackass - despite the fact that you're arguing with what you clearly consider to be inferior minds.

For your sake, I would urge you to reconsider both the tone and content of your posting, particularly when a thread turns into an argument.

First of all, I would never write a note like that to somebody at law school. This is an internet messageboard. I think the standards are different, though I appreciate the analogy. I wouldn't even write such a note to my real-life archenemy. I don't want the person behind what I can only assume is an idiotic alias to die. I just want the character/internet personality to die. DIE DIE DIE.

Secondly, I'm not usually the first to resort to personal attacks. I resent that.

I'm coming off like a jackass because I am a jackass. I realize that I'm crossing the line. I just don't know how else to deal with these people. I guess I'll just start ignoring them.

It's not true that I think I'm smarter than everyone. Not 99% of the board, for sure. But I'm definitely smarter than 10%. I can list names if you'd like.

THE POINT: I just get frustrated when people won't answer an argument on the merits, or when somme legitimate discussion devolves into "nyah nyah, I'm right." It seems that an inordinate number of threads have been going that way, as if all of the political junk has collapsed into Talk Sports.

Really well-written post, Eck. I especially liked the phrase "ignorant savages" - conjures up a good image.

Hey, I am all for dprestwood being a self admitted "jackass".
It's kind of refreshing having someone play a role closer to his real personality rather than all the vanilla, uninspiring, fakers around here playing a straight-up nice guy!

Keep up the good work!

I only wish there was another Minnesota team worthy of your support so we could continue these debates. I guess we'll have to wait until next spring when the NBA playoffs begin anew.

The good news is with the Timberwolves departure from the playoffs this week, rather than lasting until the Championship is that those unattractive, chubby Timberwolves Dance Team girls can try and get into swimsuit shape before the dog days of summer.

I don't see this as having it both ways. Yes there have been posts by a few Laker fans criticizing the crying about fouls done by the T-Wolves fans. But for a Laker fan to cry about the fouls to me comes across as "See T-Wolves, it happens to both sides so stop your crying". At least that's the way I took it, your mileage may vary.

Get real you arrogant idiot. You said that not only do you wish I'd die, but my family as well. Don't try and go back on what you said once you realised what you did was wrong. Instead of doing so, be a damn man about what you said and swallow your pride and ego and admit it.

You try to fall back on your field of study and where you go as an excuse.

There are no questions from you for me to answer. The Lakers did so; and you also prove your points wrong by showing your moronic comments.

Get a freakin' life.

He clearly meant your alias/internet virtual family, not your real one. Sheesh, can't you understand?

Didn't sound that way to me. I agree with Eck about reporting it.

EDIT - I'm guessing based on the smiley that you were being facetious.

Thanks, but I simply wont degrade myself to his level and get all caught up in his childish bull****.

dagrims- Sure, he really meant my virtual family.

OK, back to basketball.... I'm guessing Detroit will move on so looking forward to seeing them and the Lakers (won't make a prediction though)

Heh, thank goodness I put that wink at least, or I really would be in trouble. Iatric got it right, I was sympathizing with you. I need to remember to keep my attempts at humor to the OT board where they know me better (not saying they like me, they just know me).

Wow, I guess I'm not the one who needs to grow up. And when did I try to fall back on my field of study and "where I go" as an excuse? [THIS is the kind of question I would like an answer to.]

So you're JBlaze's alias? That would explain a lot.

You still haven't answered my questions in other threads, i.e. why you're comparing the Wolves to the Yankees.

We love you, dagrims, wherever you pop up!

I would like to rebuke OOTPD for their decision to limit smilies. Sure, this incident passed by without a hitch - correctly spotted by Iatric. But what if Dagrims had made a second comment, like:

'He was talking about Everquest. You should have used your +1 sword'

This could have been the end of the Dagrims' promising OOTP career. He would have been shredded.

BRING BACK SMILIES, MULTIPLE.

Shaq gets away with murder in the paint. I've never seen a player that gets so many non- 3 second calls in my life. I know shaq is a big dude, but when he is in the paint, he throws his body around alot, and he very rarely gets called for fouls when he does, which is wrong, because he should be.

I think it is funny that the 'Laker fans' are complains that there was a lot of call's against the lakers in that game. However, i dont think i saw a 2 bad fouls called all game. And that goes for the Timberwolves and Lakers.

The Laker fans complaining is just funny, the best team in the league, FOUR hall of fame players, and you guys have to cry about bad officiating? Good Lord

A couple complained.... but you make it sound as though the views of a couple represent us all which is an untrue generalization. As for me, I saw bad calls go against both teams and that's (unfortunately) just part of the game.

I know nothing at all about the NBA, but something of interest...

We have a lot of problems in Scotland with referees getting attacked in the street by Rangers or Celtic fans, having their housed covered in graffitti, lives made living hell etc. Both teams feel that referees, in the big Old Firm matches, are biased against them.

How can this be? The other teams in the league never get any decisions against them when playing the big two. How do referees become biased against a club when they were previously biased for them.

Well, I reckon that good teams, by their nature, get a lot of calls their way. Partly that's skill at drawing them, partly its the benefit of the doubt they get, partly its because its less hassle for the official to award in favour of a big team, because they'll get less post-match criticism afterwards.

Well, what happens in the big games, and especially playoff scenarios, is that you get two good teams (both of whom all season long have got more of their fair share of calls, or else they wouldn't have been as good teams!) playing against each other. Thus, the advantages go away. This impact is quadrupled by the fact that things they got away in the regular season (as a big club) are now called as infringements because they are now playing against a team who gets an equal amount of calls. This is seen when Scottish football clubs play abroad - they feel that refs are biased against them because they never get any decisions, but its actually that they get away with murder normally.

Thus, might it be argued that both these teams are used to helpful officiating, and the reason why they are both so pissed is that now they are playing against another big team the officiating is fair but the disparity is so great it looks like bias? Any other examples you can think of?
