Crash while simming - strange msg
Running with patch 6.01 on Win98, 128MB, 25GB free HD, AMD 533.
Loaded Lahman 5.1 rosters for 1950. Simmed month of April - all teams on computer control. In mid-April get a popup with an unintelligible character string (the popup is just like if you have a human controlled team and there an e-mail, injury, trade offer) followed by the option to stop simming or continue. If I select the option to stop the sim the game crashes to desktop with a runtime error. Cannot restart OOTP without system reboot - attempts to do so without reboot result in a runtime error. If I select the option to continue, the game keeps simming as if nothing occurred. The same message came up in mid-May, same results. I'm now in August with no further occurrences. The unintelligible character string goes along the entire width of the OOTP screen. Anyone else see this or know what causes this?

I am also getting this same error. I am also running win 98 is that the reason for this error. I do know if I select "No" the game is able to continue. Why the error message I do not have any human managed teams?

I'm also experiencing the difficulties Cardinal and dcundy are. I've simmed through mid-May and already the "There is new email for (unintelligible). Stop sim?" has popped up a good half-dozen times at least. I know how to disable the messages, yes, but I'm still puzzled as to the unreadable messages.
dcundy, I don't know if Windows 98 is the problem, but it's possible for I have the same OS.

Have made any adjustments to the league or simmed ahead and reset the league?

Appears I have this situation in 6.02a now too. Only differences from my first post is that I used Ankit's DB and imported the 1998 season and have St. Louis set to human manager (but did not start manager career). Career sim, finances/waivers/40-man are all on at default settings (exception is set cash retention at $25M). On day two got the popup saying 'THERE IS NEW EMAIL FOR [unintelligible]' The unintelligible character string is now only about 10 characters. From previous experience I chose not to stop simming, and the game continued as normal. There was no e-mail waiting for my human-managed team.

Further clarification - the message now is always 'THERE IS NEW EMAIL FOR GIF89a(the last character is a box symbol)'. Has happened about 8 or 9 times with the season is now in July.
