Ok... here's the final run of comparisons between my old machine and new one. I had to redo the tests becasue I wasn't comparing apples and apples
![]() OLD MACHINE P1.4mhz - 384ram - roster rules ON - standard league season took 126 minutes p1.4mhz - 384ram - roster rules OFF - standard league season took 39 minutes NEW MACHINE P2.8mhz - 512ram - roster rules ON - standard league season took 100 minutes p2.8mhz - 512ram - roster rules OFF - standard league season took 31 minutes Considering I doubled the CPU speed and increased memory by 50% I would conclude the game is memory intensive - thus an increase to 1gb of ram would probably have a profound affect. Anyone out there running 1gb or RAM - and if so, do you get a month in (with roster rules off) at under 4 minutes ? |

Well I have 1GB of RAM and do the whole 40 team 162 game season in 7-8 minutes with Minor League Option Years and Minor League Free Agents turned off on 6.02a. With them on a do a whole season in about 16-18 minutes on 6.02a.

I've placed a poll under the suggestions board that should provide the development team with some useful information should there be any more consideration of enhancements.
Click here if you have any opinion about speed relating to options in the game: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...threadid=65791

Even more specific...
It seems to be just the Minor League Option Years option. If I turn just that one off my sims are 7-8 minutes per season. If it is on the sim time more than doubles. Maybe other people can try just turning that one off. -Darryl Last edited by darrylr; 05-29-2004 at 10:44 AM. |

1. Turning off this single option will return the game to it's former speed, and 2. Memory makes a huge difference in game processing time - more than CPU speed We'll see what Markus can do, if anything, about the Minor League Option Years and report back as soon as we know something. |

I'm having a bit of a slow down but it's a worthwhile trade-off for the features that were added.

****Edit**** I just went ahead and finished the test that I started last night. My test league was 2 leagues with 8 teams in each league, since that is the league set-up that I use the most. P4 2.0 GHz 512 MB Windows XP Sim 1 all options enabled took 39 minutes. Sim 2 all options disabled took 14 minutes, 30 seconds. Sim 3 just minor league free agents disabled took 27 minutes. Sim 4 just minor league option years disabled took 15 minutes. Sim 5 both minor league free agents & option years disabled took 14 minutes. So it looks like the benefits are in just disabling minor league option years however if you already have an established league with them disabled you need to re-enable them and then disable them again to see the benefits. I did this in the above mentioned league and saw immediate results. Last edited by AngelinOF; 05-29-2004 at 05:46 PM. |

Sorry, I guess that's useless without some stats. It seems to take just about 4 minutes right on the dot to complete a month. Maybe a little less.
But I also have 2 HD's RAID, and it used to go through a month in a flash, ya know! Guess I shouldn't complain too much though, if others are taking as long as they are.

I like the patch so much that I'm okay with the speed reduction. The limeups are so much better now.

I will look into it in the next few days... I think I know where the problem is, and if that's the case, it's a rather easy fix
I'll keep you posted!

Shoot mine seems faster. In 6.01 I would sim for 12 hours and only have 16 years done, and I simmed overnight again and had 30 done in under 12 hours.

Not that it matters now that the problem is being looked into, but I have experienced it too. My history of MLB without 6.02a simmed a full season in about 25 minutes. Now I am lucky to get through 2 weeks in that 25 minute period.
