The Official Swallows Win Thread
Too bad they might not got enough to win it all this year, but Atsuya Furuta is still #1!!!!!!!

Swallows 6, Carp 2
At Hiroshima Stadium, Shinya Miyamoto, Atsuya Furuta and Akinori Iwamura all hit solo homers to power Yakult over the Carp. Jason Beverlin gave up two runs on six hits over seven innings to pick up the win.

He looks a bit like a 'bemused dad' figure from a sitcom. I'm just guessing here, but you can't argue with 163 RBIs.

Check more of his stats here: http://japanesebaseball.com/players/...p?PlayerID=289
He is basically the I-Rod of Japan. High BA with decent power. GREAT defense. Career CS%= .464!!!!! Also 2 time MVP and 2 time Championships MVP. He's also the pioneer of the labor talks in Japanese Baseball. The very first player to actually negotiate his own contract instead of accepting whatever offered.

1992 .316/.422/.576 - pretty nice year there! I note he didn't get intentionally walked until two years ago. Is there just no data for that stat previously, or could we call it the Bonds phenomenon traversing the pacific? |

Ties? Are rain-outs handled differently Skip, or are their no extra-inning encounters?

Is there any way to get audio broadcasts of Japanese games over the internet?

If you got some Japanese or international channel on cable, they might carry a Baseball Tonight kind of program made by NHK.

Swallows 6, Dragons 4
At Jingu Stadium, Alex Ramirez, Katsuyuki Dobashi and Atsushi Furuta all homered off Kenshin Kawakami (6-3) to give Yakult an early lead and Akinori Iwamura capped the scoring with a solo shot in the eighth inning as Chunichi snapped a three-game winning streak.
