No difference in bunt-for-hit ratings?
I have an observation, looking for answers..
I'm playing in manager mode- every player has the same "bunt for hit" rating, shown on the right side of the player page- and its the lowest rating possible- I've yet to see a bunt for hit happen. Any way to fix this? |

How many times do you actually see someone successfully bunt for a hit in a MLB game?
-- Not very often. |

Funny you should ask about actual bunt hits in a real game- was`watching the Angels- Orioles last nite, Eckstein and Figgins had 2 bunt hits in a row- and Mora just did miss one for the O's.
Point is , some guys are way more likely to get one than other guys- I've been use to OOTP4 and just switched to v6- v4 has, for whatever reason, a much greater variety of b2h ratings- |

Maybe it's because I watch the Red Sox aka The Slowest Team in MLB History (with the exception of Johnny Damon). However, I agree the guys who attempt bunts for hits do it fairly often and the guys who don't, just plain don't unfortunately for me (I'm a big fan of the play being a former speedy/not so powerful lead-off hitter who used it regularly).

They're rare, but they do occur. My starting lineup right now has one guy with a 5 rating and one with a 4 rating (on a 1-5 scale). It's nice because they're both lefthanded, so I can try to get a cheap hit off a lefty specialist without using a pinch hitter. This is the only team I've ever had with more than one player with the skill, however.

Watching the tigers games (they show the stat all the time). Actually its 16 (19 infield hits, 3 were just choppers), but you get the point. He is the best bunter by far in baseball right now, I know its a fluke type thing (and outlier) but its there .

---- Given another chance in Detroit, Sanchez is reviving the lost art of bunting. Through Sunday he was batting .356 and had 15 bunt hits -- no one else in the majors had more than five -- including three in one game on May 11 that prompted Oakland manager Ken Macha to call him "the best [bunter] I've ever seen." ----
Funny that i see this article on si.com the afternoon after hearing that stat. |

![]() Too bad he has no timing at all and is only stealing at like a 60 % clip or something (it was better last year). |

Gibby was supposed to have really helped with that. Wait and see what he looks like at end of season.

Juan Pierre and Luis Castillo had a ****load last year.... I dont have any exact numbers, and am too lazy to look it up, but Im fairly sure Pierre lead the league in infield hits. I believe the total was between 40 and 50.

Being a Clevelander, myself, I miss the days of Kenny Lofton, Omar Vizquel, and Robby Alomar going for back-to-back-to-back bunt hits. Ahh, how I pine for the good ol' days...
