Question about arbritration and resigning players
when I pull up my salary report, it says "Arbitration (estimate: 360,000). How does this work? Do I need to do anything before the season is over, or will there be an automatic arbritration hearing or something?? I just want to make sure I don't loose the player(s).

nah, you are right. If you want to goto arbitration, you do nothing, and usually it's close to the estimate you will pay. If you want to deny arbitration you CUT them
OR: You can sign a multi year deal before the end of the season to avoid it as well. |

ALWAYS check this screen before proceeding to the next season. If a player hits his 6th year of Pro ball (since drafted, regardless of 40-man or active roster experience), he will change from arbitration to free agent. I almost lost a four-star player had I not checked this.

What determines free agency status?
This is confusing. The financial engine setup states that players after their sixth year on the active roster can be become free agents. This indicates to me it is not years of pro service that determines free agency but years of active major league service .
Is this not the case? I |
