FLASH Opens
Hi all,
I have a new historical OOTP6 league ready to launch, called FLASH. The league takes place in 1977, a year after free agency hit the MLB. The premise of FLASH is to incorporate a detailed, well defined free agency system. As commissioner (who doesn't own a team) I will be acting as the player agent, who will use numerous factors to decide where my clients (the players) go. All factors are explained in the rules page. This will be a highly involved league, so it is recommended that you have enough time to participate at a high level. Posting articles is not "required", but is a great way to "promote" your team, in an effort to make the highest level of free agents interested in your team. You will also meet with me on numerous occasions whenever you need to sign free agents or extend contracts of players. I'm putting forth a lot of effort, so hopefully we can get 26 owners who put forth their part and meet me half way We'll run two sims a week (Tuesday and Thursday), 15 days each. Once again, I highly urge you to read the rules if you are interested in joining, as some rules may not fit your style (IE: limited trading). Two teams are expansion teams (Toronto and Seattle), so you won't be starting out with much. Just so people know, you do not have to be a great team to get the top Free Agents in FLASH. What you have to be is an active manager. Free Agents will not always go to the top teams, rather they will go to a team who they know they can trust. If you post a lot of articles, you are "promoting" your players, putting them out for the rest of the league to see. Small things such as articles will build up to success in FLASH. I used to run FLOG (For Love of the Game) until I had to leave for personal reasons. Hopefully a few members from that league can back me up when I say I'm a dedicated commish If you are interested in taking a chance on a great league, just shoot me an email over at akrobat@mlb-history.com. I'll be taking applications for about a week, as I don't like the "first come first serve" style. It's best that you include more than two teams you would like to be, so I can fit you into any sort of situation. In your email please include your name, age, email, OOTP username, and any interesting tid bits about yourself, that would encourage me to think you'll make a great addition. Thanks for your time. |

I had a team in the ill-fated FLOG. As long as it lasted, I found Akrobat to be a conscientious and hard-working commish.
He knows how to run a league and he's a good guy. I think this league will have a lot of potential.

This looks to be a good league. I like the fact that the commish will not be an owner. My suspicious mind is always suspect of that, except in the case of Cooley, because I've never seen him put together a winning team in any of his league ventures.

Sounds like a great league. And it's being headed by a good guy in the OOTP Community. Historical league lovers can't go wrong here.

<- another former FLOG owner (Indy Clowns)
I am sure Albert will be extremely dedicated and capable. It's a well thought-out premise with lots of potential!

It also might be noted that you need the game to play in the league, and we will also use the 1-5 scale for ratings, to make it so owners base their teams more off performance.
I will also be using a system where you gain/lose fan interest based on how you perform during the season activity/performance wise. The whole premise of the idea is to have fans actually follow/not follow your team based on how active you are in getting the team promoted and fans excited for ball games. For instance, if you make a trade that brings in a talented, new face, fan interest could bump up 1 or 2 points. If you make a move that ships away a long time fan favorite, it could drop 1-2 points. All that good stuff. |

The old Crawfords GM here from the FLOG, and I can safely say that Albert is a great commish, and I am ready to go with his new league.

We have about 10 applications in our first 24 hours, things are shaping very well with some great owners already on board. Hope to get a bit more (16 to be exact
) applications so we can get things rolling.

The owner's page has been updated with the teams that have been claimed. Currently 10 owners have claimed a team, with one still deciding who he wants. Hopefully we can fill this up by the end of the weekend, so shoot me an email over at akrobat@mlb-history.com. Someone needs to join Michael Todd in the NL West, he's lonely over there!
