Does Rivera ever convert a save?
Does Mariano Rivera ever actually convert a save in this game? This guy has got to be the worst pitcher in the history of baseball, at least according to either CBL or the programmers of OOTP. Four games four blown saves and three losses. So much for realism.

How many times must we say that OOTP does not recognize names, but their ratings and stats. If you aren't happy with how he is doing, edit his ratings to your liking.

And not to flame you or anything, just really tired of hearing complaints about "third-party" roster sets that are done by individuals who are being kind enough to take time out of their personal lives to improve the gameplay of OOTP. They do not have to do this -- but they provide a free roster set which I am very pleased with, as many others are on the board as well. If you'd like to make a roster set, we encourage you.
And by the way, the great thing in this game is that it is not supposed to "exactly" replicate Major League Baseball (MLB) and what is occuring, you are supposed to get statistical differences with different players. Once again, this is not a game that is coded to recognize a players name... Anyways, enough of my rambling. Thought I'd start taking a more major role in this board though! |

I really don't think anyone actually thinks OOTP recognizes names. At least I hope not. I think people are just upset that some great players were not given ratings to better represent them. We all know how frustrating this game can be sometimes.
I also want to personally thank all those great people who took time in making add ons to this game. They have made a big difference. |

You mean player ratings BASED on their ACTUAL stats the past three seasons??? Yea, far-fetched idea indeed that CBLCardinals guy had for CBL 2.0

In one of my online leagues, with an older roster set and OOTP5, Rivera has good ratings, but never quite performs up to them. Never mind, the stats are reasonable, he's Mariano Rivera and will be my closer until the decline kicks in.

Talk about the computer not knowing names -- I lost Ernie Banks to a career ending injury when he was 24 years old! I cried all night.
And now Mantle is hitting .405 thru August and my Astros lead by three games over Kansas City in my 1955 fantasy league/real player league. We just arrived in KC for weekend three game series. And since I play out all my team's games -- the excitement is beyond belief! |

Rivera
Rivera has done fairly well in my Yankee dynasty using the CBL roster set. I play all my teams games and here are his stats. (I didn't edit any of his ratings and just signed him too a two year extension at 7,000,000 per season)
G 41 GS 0 W 2 L 1 SV 27 E.R.A 2.78 IP 45 HA 36 opponents batting average .214 In real life in the 2003 season opponents hit .233 vs Rivera so I'm more than happy with these stats so far. |
