ps2 baseball games

I already know that OOTP is the best baseball simulation for the computer, but I was wondering if anyone has advice on which game to buy for playstation 2. I want the most realistic game out there...not necessarily the graphics and all that, just an all around great game. I'm not looking for a game where you can hit a HR every time up (like the old Triple Play games), just a game with accurate stats and a good career mode. Any suggestions?

yeah those are the two i am basically deciding between...espn just came out today, so it's officially decision time. i suppose i could rent them both, but that could be $10 toward buying one of them.

try checking the web sites .... they sometimes help you see what you will get (no patches, but available secret codes).

MVP 2004 rocks, with the following weaknesses:

1) not enough balls, not enough walks
2) no fatigue factor except for starting pitchers
3) too many foul popups and amazing AI catches
4) the infamous "lefty glitch," wherein lefty hitters on the console version (they've patched this problem for PC'ers) cannot hit the ball as far as righties, leading to less HR's for lefties
5) little or no stealing by the AI

I've adjusted sliders to compensate for all these problems, and they mostly persist. But, all in all, still a great game as long as you forgive the imperfections.

I rented ESPN baseball, it seriously blows compared to MVP (which I own). I think MVP is quite possibly the best EA Sports game on the market right now.

I agree with you! I'm on game #124 of the 2004 season and my team leader in walks is Manny Ramirez with 9! lol. And it's not like i swing at the first pitch, i work the pitcher as much as i can.

BigBambino, what setting are you on? I've tried All-Star, but couldn't get realistic game scores (i.e., I was getting my butt kicked). So now I'm on Pro setting, with adjustments.

I'm following the Cubs season, day-by-day. Just lost to the D'backs in the 9th inning last night.

See you in the World Series!

Is it just me or are you able to steal 100 bases a season? Johnny Damon just stole base # 100 on game #132

I'm on pro, myself. Haven't adjusted sliders, as I'm only a few games into my franchise. One thing that I did notice this morning was that the official scoring in the game needs a little help. I hit a smash up the box for a base hit, no one got a glove on it, the pitcher could do nothing but get out of the way. Yet, it was scored an error. In the same game, a screaming line dive went over the head of my shortstop, into the gap for an apparent double, only for it to be scored a two-base error.... from my shortstop, who didn't touch the ball???

And, I was the home team!!

Oh. And, in regards to the MVP points that you earn throughout the year, in order to unlock stadiums and whatnot: You earn points for having someone hit a grand slam. I did that. A walk-off grandslam. Simple awesome. However, I look over my points, and it did not register the grandslam.

I'm not complaining so much on that point. Afterall, it was great drama. But, I've only played three games this season, and I've come up with three glitches. Ouch.

I've had fielders for the other team pick up the ball right near second, with my runner coming from first, then just stand there and hold the ball. Safe at second, safe at first!

I've also had the poor scoring decisions you are talking about.

Getting a walk is still a cause for celebration.

Things I hope they fix.... all in all, still fun to play.
