pinch runner bug
I have the 6.01 patch and just noticed this bug in the first game I played post-patch install. I do not recall seeing it prior to the patch, but I am not certain. Anyway, here is the situation:
Top of the 9th, I'm down 3-1 with runners on first and second and 1 out. I pinch run for the runner on first. The new runner is now listed in the lineup on the left hand side, but the old runner is still listed on the field. I go back to the substitution page and the new runner is in the lineup, however there is no (1B) next to his name to indicate he is on first base. I go ahead and play it out. The next guy gets a base hit. In the PbP, the old runner is listed as the guy who advanced to second. Next guy strikes out to end the game, so no big deal. It should be noted that the runner who I wanted to take out was the designated hitter. Perhaps this is only an issue with pinch running for the DH, but I have only seen this once so I do not have many details to provide. I'll try to pinch run for a DH again some time and see if the same thing happens. Thanks! |

NDSox,
I had the same problem when I tried to pinch hit for a DH. (See my pinch hitting for DH post) |

This is a pretty serious bug. I have repeatedly found that you cannot replace a DH in game, either by pinch-hitting or pinch-running. The old player stays in the game. This really needs to get fixed a.s.a.p.

I can vouch for the Pinch running for the DH as well. I could not make any changes either.

Yes, this is frustrating. Frank Thomas just never wants to come out of games. I knew his attitude would be a problem when I took over the White Sox.

Ozzie,
I love your handle! Actually, Thomas is exactly the player I was trying to pinch run for. I guess I'll just have to let the big man run

I just had a very similar bug. Grudz is up to bat and the other team's plunks him. Mark charges the mound and is tossed along with the pitcher. Jay Witasek comes in to pitch.
I had had Ramon Martinez playing short. I moved him to third (where I'd had Grudz playing) and brought Alex Gonzalez in at short. So, Alex replaced Grudz in the lineup. I would now expect to see Alex on base. Instead, Jay Witasek is on base. And pitching. If I went to my lineup, NOBODY was listed on base. Weird! --chris |

I have had this problem as well. Inserted Cesar Izturis in to pinch run for Edgar Martinez, it placed Izturis in Edgar's slot in the batting order, but Edgar is still on first base. However, the CPU pinch runs for their team just fine.

I too have noticed you can't pinch run for a DH, however I found that I can pinch hit for him if I make the sub before it is his turn at bat. Still unacceptable since I'll sub forthe DH a couple of at-bats beforehand and then when they make a pitching change (lefty for righty for example) then I would rather have my previous DH. Hopefully patched soon

This is a better post then the one I put in earlier. I had the same problem. I play the Red Sox and Ellis Burks was my DH. I tried to pinch hit for him and even though on the lineup screen it showed the pinch hitter, Burks was still shown as the batter at the plate.
Boy, did I feel dumb pitch hitting for him though after he hit a home run to tie the game. LOL.

Maybe I should change all of my leagues to NL-style. Hmmm. Nah.
Anyway, it's already been reported. It isn't anything that wasn't already noticed, but rather it's still being worked on. Version "6.02a" doesn't strike me as a final-sounding patch, afterall
