I didn't know (a) if this thread was the best place to ask this question, and (b) whether this was already in the works, but: is anyone putting together a comprehensive (or as nearly as possible) face pack set for the Roster update you guys are doing? I just got the game last week, and I downloaded the latest face pack (thanks whomever did it!) but there're tons of holes in minor leaguers, etc., and I imagine there will be far more in the new roster update.
Rather than having everyone go to http://www.bakersfieldblaze.com and the other numerous minor league sites (GOTTA have Hamilton's mug if he's the jewel of my system!), nab images, re-size and export as .bmp's, I would be happy to lend some time to tackle that. Let me know if this is already being done... I'm *ahem* in-between jobs, I have Photoshop and I have a cable modem Thanks,Ed O. |

Update 6/17
Hey guys,
I e-mailed Pierre last week and haven't heard back from him yet, which is why I have had no update yet. However, the main sheets are completed except for birthdays, player ID #s (to overwrite Rolen's original set and preserve historical stats), and a review of ratings and such. The way I understood things from the last time I spoke to Pierre is that I would send him a sample sheet and he would write his import program from that. Then when that was done I would send him the final sheet and he would run it through and have it done. Basically, I just need to hear back from him and see what his timetable is and what he wants us to do from here. But we're definitely getting close, I just don't know HOW close until I talk to Pierre. GH |

Pierre...
As of this afternoon, Pierre has a rough copy of the sheets so he can start working on the importer. I'll keep you updated as I hear from him.

Well, I took the Pirates roster that GH had provided to the list, and did the ol' surfing thing and came up with images for 86 of the 115 players listed. Many need to be resized and cleaned up, but all of them except for one (an action shot of VanBenschoten pitching, I believe) are pretty decent. I started grabbing "orphans", too (players with mug shots that aren't on the roster) but stopped partway through the A teams, because there are a substantial amount of extra players... I was thinking I'd do it for AAA and AA, though, since these players are probably on other teams in the upcoming rosters. (I guess I COULD x-reference my orphans with the opening day lineups, but it's 3:37 AM and I should sleep now...)
GH: can you release or otherwise make available to me a few more teams? I'd like to work on the asset gathering piecemeal, rather than having 3000 players to work on all at once. Let me know if this would be possible. Thanks, Ed O. |

Update
Hey guys,
OK, while I am awaiting response from Pierre on the importer timeline and Rolen on the birthdays and player IDs, I am trying to incorporate as many accurate pitch types as I can and look through the minor league scouting notebook to try to make those ratings as accurate as possible. Because so many of the speed/arm ratings are conversions based on High Heat ratings I made last year, I am trying to double check and see these for added accuracy. I'll do as much of these things as I can until Pierre is ready to run the whole sheet through. Just wanted you to know what I was up to. GH |

Hello all,
Sorry to have been absent for the past week, I was very sick and hardly even got out of bed let alone turned on a computer. Doctor's are still not sure exactly what I had but the consensus so far has been salmonella food poisoning. I am almost back to 100%. I have been working on collecting the information for a bunch of the guys who have been difficult to find due to cuts, and trades. Also, I am wondering what people think about the inclusion of the place of origin. This is a bit difficult to come up with some times for the minor leaguers. Something I might look for some help in collecting should it be a popular issue. Let me know what you think. Also, I want to know, and I know we asked this before but do you want town, state, country or just country(which is all the game puts in for fictional players). Let me know. Erich

Rolen, I wouldn't mind if it was just country. That's all the info I really need and if I wanted more I could do it manually. Thanks for the hard work and I'm glad that your feeling better.

Actually, to me, it's a minor thing. It would be different if the had olympic or world championship games where place of origion is important, but it doesn't. Then sooner I can enjoy the hard work you guys put it, the happier I'd be.
