Scandinavian Name File v1.0 released!

My Scandinavian name file has been released. You can get it at my website . I've also submitted it to Baseball Sim Central so it should be on there in a few days. I have roughly 1600 first names and 1600 last names included in this release. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to message/email me if you have any questions about it.

Future plans include:
- more names
- Scandinavian nicknames

- Nick

I'd be interested in learning what some of the more distinctive nicknames are (and what they mean).

Well right now I don't have any new nicknames included in the file. I'm still planning to add them but after spending many hours the last few days, I thought I'd just post the first and last name files.

As for the names themselves, I don't have a complete list of the roots but I can probably throw together a list of the ones I know. The problem is that a lot of them are Old Norse roots and I don't know much Old Norse. However I will say a lot of the names are compounds. For example, Torbjorn means "Thor-bear".

I'll try to include this in the next version of the file. Thanks for the interest!

I'm pleased to announce version 1.1 of the Scandinavian Name File has been released! New features include:

-Tested for OOTP6 compatibility. It is now certified by me to work with OOTP 5 and 6.
-130 authentic nicknames! They are translated into English from ancient Scandinavian literature. My personal favorite is "Terror of the East-Men" but other cool authentic nicknames include Provider of Carrion, Swarthy-Cheek, Whale-Might, Reddener of Swords and also just plain Evil.

I will submit it to the usual OOTP download sites as well. The Readme in the ZIP file has more information.
