Jesus......
This is the most amazing and saddest thing I have read it a while.
Why the **** - pardon my language, btw - would anyone want to cheat in an online league? Why? If you are that desperate for inner justification play solo for god's sake..... Part of the fun of OOTP4 is losing - it makes you want to work that much harder. Hell, in about 20 seasons of combined play in FBL, CBL, GMC and EBL I have never won yet, even though my team is often the best in the regs - but who cares. Its a god-damn game. This is not life. If the guy did cheat - dude, you are a waste of oxygen. Nothing more, nothing less. If he didnt cheat, then someone please explain how the hell it all happened. Another owner could not alter the file unless he altered the master, then got the password to upload it and then uploaded it. Would someone go out of the way to frame another owner in this matter? Maybe someone with just a ****load of time on his hands and no life whatsoever - there are those out there, but I just cant see it. Jesus..... Hats off to Devaneyfan for having the stones to bring this forward and stick with it in the face of all the bull**** and disinformation and personal attacks Hornsmaniac continually put out there...

wow
I can't believe what has gone on in this league. Makes me very thankful for the leagues I have been involved with!!! I just hope that this one example doesn't make people not want to be in online leagues. I do hope it makes people investigate leagues before they join...wow, this is better than daytime TV

kcchief19, I hope you're willing to change your mind. As mentioned above, don't let this one experience ruin your perception of online play. There really good leagues out there. |

Online Commishes
quote:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by kcchief19 [ After this, I doubt I'll ever play in online league again. . [/B] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KcCgief19, dude, there are a ton of great leagues out there run by good commishes. Eric Wedge is about the best damn Commish out there, and he runs the CBL Tom Shaffer used to run the TBSBA. Great commish. Joe Ramsey used to run the FBL . Ryan Feurer now runs it, and he is about the nicest guy you ever want to meet. There are also teams availavle, btw. Heath Peters used to run the EBL and Heath put together a great league. Kurtis Reynolds runs the CUBL and he is a kick-ass guy as well. My goal as a commish is to make sure the gaming experience is smooth, flawless and fun for owners because that is the experience I got as an owner with Tom, Eric, Heath and Joe. Online play is amazing - the challange of competing against 29 or so other guys who know just about as much as you, if not more is a rush. Beating them, whether it is winning championships - which I know nothing about, apparantly - or kicking their asses in trades - which I do - is a great feeling. Don't give up on online play. Find a good league, talk to owners before joining and then jump in when a vacancy happens. Bug the commish for weeks, asking for a team - he will make sure you are first in line as we all love owners who give a damn. Cheers, Dean Gordon Commish - EBL , GMC Owner - EBL, GMC, FBL, CBL Last edited by Dean Gordon; 06-19-2002 at 03:04 PM. |

Jeff Willett runs the JBL and is the best commish I've seen (well, only him and HM have ever been my commishes, so...
)But Jeff makes it very fun for us and the cohesion of all of our league owners makes this a really, really great league.

Wow, I echo what Delgadodawg just said. This has been both unbelievably unfortunate for an online league and hilarious at the same time. My only conclusion can be that HornsManiac is actually a 12 year old. Only a 12 year old could have been that immature to do all of that crap and then attempt to defend himself the way he did.
BTW, everyone check out the post in the LBA. It's a fictional story about an occurrence that happened in the Laseron world. But it's actually a satire based on this whole drama. It's hilarious to read it and now know about this whole thing. Funny stuff. Here's the link: http://www.laseron.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=89 |

This thread is the main reason why solo leagues are a good idea

Nonsense
"This thread is the main reason why solo leagues are a good idea "
Nonsense.... ![]() Solo leagues, like other things you can do by yourself, are only fullfilling up to a point. At some level you need to know your place in the universe vis-a-vis other baseball owners. You need to know that you can trade better than another owner, that you an find that gem round 3 draft pick, that you can pick up that amazing free agent cheaply. The AI in OOTP4, while good, is 1/100th of what a real owner can do. Dean Commish - EBL, GMC Owner - CBL, FBL |

On-Line leagues bring out the best in the game...
Just because 1 im-mature bafoon decided to try to cheat in his on-line league doesn't mean that the idea is a bad one. Quite the contrary in fact. For me, running an on-line league is the only reason why I bought the game. It's still too easy to rip off the AI, so it's not really a challenge. What is the challenge is dealing with 27-29 other humans in trying to put together a winner.
Yes, finding a quality on-line league can be tough. The good ones have VERY low turnover so it's hard to get into the more well known leagues. So, for the most part, the new ones are a crap shoot at best. But, to me, it's worth the risk. Once you try on-line leagues, you'll never go back ![]() Joe www.trueleaguebaseball.com |

lol woah woah guys. I never said online leagues were bad. I was just trying to lighten the mood. That's all. If you notice my sig. You'll see that I'm a part of 2 online leagues. Sorry if you took my post the wrong way, I was just trying to make light of the situation. Sometimes we all need to take a step back and put things into perspective, that's all.
