Looking for Trade Offers: Is there an Easier way to...
Look for the best offer for the player you are trying to trade??
What I mean is that when I want to get the best possible offer for my player, is there a better and quicker method to view the offers from each individual team? I find myself having to write down what Team A is offering because by the time I get to Team Z I forgot if Team A, B, or C had the better offer. Is there any way to put up multiple windows within OOTP6 to compare the players being offered other than running multiple applications of the game? Thanks |

I usually scout people I'd want for the guy I'm trying to move, jot them now (incl *'s, pos and contract ($/yr)). This way I know who to look at and try for in a trade. So if I find guy C, and he's about the same stat/rating wise to A and B, has has a longer contract with less money, I'd go for him first.

The best deal you'll ever get for a player you want to trade will NEVER come from any AI trade offer. So, even if ALL the AI were to simultaneously give ALL their best offers for a player you want to trade, you still wouldn't get the best offer possible. You'd just get the best trade offer from a bad collection of AI offers.
It's kind of like asking a class of 6th graders to recommend the best car you should buy. You'd get a list of 30 suggestions and maybe the best would be good. But that doesn't mean it's the best for you. Personally, I enter every trade with a pretty good idea of what I want and what I'm willing to give for it. So generally, once I've located a deal offering the kind of guys I'm looking for and at the price I'm willing to pay, I pull the trigger and have done with it. Why would I waste my time trying to get a little tiny bit more? For me, it would seem to imply that I don't have trust in my ability to know a good value when I see it, unless I endlessly shop around for the very best bargin. I actully write down most of my trades, and I use the AI offers just to find which teams want whatever I'm selling.
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that when you offer a player to an AI team in V6 that it doesn't show everyone that the team will give up? A couple of times I've found a team hiding a player (not listing them) that they would give up, normally a high rated prospect. The same when showing who would complete a deal. Even if not everyone, V5 seemed to show a lot more players, and I never found a team hiding a player from me. Is this just a genuine something to add to the realism of the game, or is something wrong?

Also, the game allows you to add on money or extra players afterwards and the other team will let you know if the deal is still good. It as if two teams agreed that to trade one player for another and then the other team asks - would you still do it if you paid me an extra $100k, yes you would, okay how about you throw in $200k, you would still, great, how about you add in that one-star prospect, no, okay, how about another $100k . . .
No real negotiation would ever go like this. You just can't ask for a certain amount, see that it is doable and then incrementally ask for more until you get the best possible deal. If one team offered a deal to another and the other agrees, generally thats it or the whole deal is off - it doesn't make sense that after getting their agreement you can continue to ask for more and still get their agreement. Very unrealistic. This is just one of the trade AI issues. |

Drippy: Not sure if that's happening intentional or not, but I think it's a great feature. I don't want to know every player a team would give up, and in fact I didn't really like the feature when it was first added in one of the v5 patches. I'm glad to hear that I can't see every possible trade in that list.
LawDawg: Yes, there really should be a "make offer" button like there is for contract negotiations. Once you make an offer, you can't reduce it without ticking off the other team. |
