What's the deal with team markets?
Why exactly does the size of your team's market change? Mine went from 'Big' (during two years I won 81 and 82 games) to 'Good' after I won 97 and lost in the ALCS 4-3.
Does anyknow know why this may have happened? |

When the Angels consistently draw 3 million, THEN maybe you can talk!

I have that same question... I have a small market team and I have won the WS 4 times in 6 years, been in the playoffs for 8 straight, always draw 3 mil +... and it hasn't increased... what factors are involved for it to increase (or decrease)?

Market size is usually static. It can move up or down slightly based on team success - and this usually is with larger markets only.

Henry,
So is there anyway to increase the market size over time in the game, or does the user have to edit and change it themselves? |

Market Size is basically just that - think of it as population. It is fixed on a certain amount of available people.
In a large market scenario, however, (example New York) team success might start drawing fans from surrounding areas - thus increasing market size, at least temporarily. In a small market, however, (Flatbush, Utah) success isn't going to draw any more fans to the park. (Maybe a few anteaters). If you want it to change outside of those parameters, you have to change it manually. Henry |

Keep in mind that regardless of team success, there is a random element involved. So you may not gain in Market size despite winning year after year.

It would be really cool if you could "relocate" the team and move to a bigger market...

It's totally random as far as I can tell. I have a fic league and my team is Dallas and it's a small market and Altoona was large.

So what is the process if you want to create a fictional league, and wish to scale down the market sizes to literally small towns?
For instance: I wish to create a pre-expansion, 2-league, 16 team solo organization but based on local towns within my area--sort of a "factory league" concept. I dont much care for financials except as a vehicle for player movement, but assume I'll need to activate them to facilitate free-agency movement, trading, etc. I can live with modern salaries, but would prefer to scale the population bases and salaries down to town-sized levels if such a feat is possible. On the other hand, I'd be glad to dispense with the financial side of this exercise if I had another method to simulate appropriate player movement, and avoid a static player base. Any comments or suggestions? My game is "in the mail" , thus these questions. |
