Rule 5 Draft

I have yet to see any team take a player in the Rule 5 Draft.

I'm curious to know if anyone has seen a computer team take a player.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

Okay. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a bug. I haven't had any in 5-6 season.

Thanks.

I just had my first rule 5, and my scrub 22yo single-A secondbaseman with 4/6/1/2/4 talents (1-10 scale) and 23/43/3/9/30 ratings (1-100) was the only guy available. An AI team picked him up. I thought it was a pretty dumb move since this guy is nowhere near ready, and also doesn't have high enough talents to waste a roster spot on for a whole season, but we'll see how it plays out.

Has anyone seen the AI fail to keep a player on the active roster the whole season and return him to the original team?

There doesn't seem to be a "return to other team" option with the rule 5. I tried to send a Rule 5 pick down (just to see what would happen) and it just says that the player must remain on the DL or the active roster all season.

I'm assuming the only way I can get him off is to release him, but I haven't tried that yet. Anyone else try this?

maybe in 6.02 markus can add a button that allows any player who was Rule V selected, who CLEARS waviers (this is the important part) to be offered back for 25k

Are you sure he has to clear waivers?? I was under the assumption that he didn't need to.

I lost Richard Stahl and Ryan Hannaman in the 2006 Rule 5 Draft.

good example of this was Frank Brooks this year...Rule V'ed out of Pittsburgh by Oakland. Was wavied (essentially to return him to PIT) but Boston (I think) claimed him.

It tells you what it is in league setup when you enable it.

ESPN's Transaction Primer is a good resource for this info.

I finished a fictional season and at one point I had generated 2 "established" 1st basemen for my AAA team. Both players were selected in the Rule 5 the following season.

Not only would it be nice to be able to offer him back to the other team for 25k (but if that's implemented, we need to put in that it costs 50k to draft him), but I'd like to see him be Rule V marked all year. Right now if you trade a Rule V guy, he can be sent back to Double-A ball or wherever and doesn't need to be kept on that team's active roster.

I've never used it yet, but is it added to his history?
