Lost a Non-free agent

Just lost my closer to free agency when the game did not say he was eligible for free agency. He was supposed to be arbitration eligible for 1 more year. Anyone else had this happen?

I've had someone who they said was arbitration eligible and ended up a free agent also. Kinda disturbed me. had to spend all kinds of money to get him back! Damn the free agents!!

I mentioned this in another post but nobody paid attention.

I'm getting players e-mailing me to resign, but it says they are arbitration eligable!!!

I just backed up my league, and I'm gonna not re-sign them and see what happens. If they don't get arbitration i'm gonna restore the league.

Please post if anyone else is getting this.

I've ran into this same problem. Had my backup 2B send me a e-mail saying he wanted to be re-signed to a extension but when i go to see his contract stuff it says he's eligable for arbitration so i ignore his e-mail and don't resign him since he's eligable. After season i continue to next and check my logs and notice that he became a free agent instead of getting any arbitration...very misleading. this needs to be looked into for next patch.

This is an ongoing problem. Happens quite often. Sometimes I get e-mails saying this is my final year even though a salary check of the roster says arbitration eligible, and sometimes there is no e-mail, they just are gone the next season. I don't know if their service time changes during postseason-offseason or not but there is definately something wrong when you check your roster just before hitting the proceed to next season button and a player is arbitration eligible then find him in the free agent pool when you get to the next year.

I don't know if this is what happened in the cases above, but I found I have to constantly check the player's salaries report. Since the game is now counting roster days, a player could conceivably become a free agent on the last day of the year and you could lose him.

It almost happened to me with "Austin Kearns" from my league. He was arbitration eliglble all year (I was willing to take my chances on this), and the last week I checked and he had earned enough time to become a free agent.

I was scrambling to sign him and couldn't....I did re-sign him during the offseason...I noticed the same has happened concerning arbitration cases, too.

I miss the screen we had a few years ago which listed free agents at the bottom of the page. May be the players who are to be free agents at year's end are shaded a different color so that we notice when they become eligible and can decide whether to pursue them? I'm suggesting when they accrue enough time for free agency that the player's name changes at that time (game shouldn't and doesn't project...you never know when a player may be released or suffer a career-ending injury).

A lot of this information is available on the players' contract tab status, but you'd have to check every single player every single time to keep up with them all.

Having those colors available, or additional codes would help when it comes to claiming, acquiring a player through trade, or signing free agents. The existing codes disappear on different screens...I'd like to have them and even more seen on al screens.

Yea, i thought of this too and in some of the earlier cases that might have happened. But as I said, I have checked just before proceeding to the next season and still lost them too.
