Anyone try conversion pre-season?

I mean before the draft, before spring training. In an online league, I'd hate to wait until after ST to convert because most people will draft and sign players based on v5 issues, and not knowing full well how they will convert, it could suck for a lot of teams.

Has anyone tried this? Or has anyone tried converting at the end of a season just before proceeding to next season? Thanks.

I converted my league before proceeding to the next season (end of a season) and seemed to convert just fine.

I converted at the end of the season, right before continuing on to next season. The new ratings take some getting used to, but I see no greater impact on individual player abilities than you'd see in normally continuing to a new season anyway.

This weekend I actually converted my v5 solo league in the middle of the season. I had no problems. A few player star ratings changed slightly, but none I noticed changed more than half a star one way or the other. Most didn't change at all. The top prospect on my top prospect list pre-conversion (my 20 year old AAA 1B Walter Sundquist) was the same after the conversion.

I was quite pleased how OOTP6 handled the conversion in the middle of the season. I suspect it'd work just as well for you before a new season.

The only problem I've seen so far (and it's not a huge problem) was that one player with less than one year of minor league service (he was just drafted in the ammie draft a month before the conversion) who I traded for before the conversion is now listed as eligible for the Rule V draft. He was just drafted so I don't think that should be. But it's no big deal. I'll just protect him on the 40 man roster. That's the only glitch I've seen so far.

I converted just before 'proceed to next season' with no problems other than the disabled list/40 man roster issue that has been discussed in many threads. Interesting that the first amateur draft after conversion had only three top prospects in the entire group, none pitchers, easily the thinnest draft crop I've ever seen. I don't know if thats a conversion issue, a v6 feature, or random luck.
