While adjusting my league totals settings to better reflect statistical totals generated during baseball in the early 1900's, I noticed the first bug.
1. Adjusting "Hits" appears to have no effect on stats generated by the game I'm using the new "DIPS" engine, and found that by tweaking Ks, BBs, HR's, Doubles, and Triples I could get a pretty good tight range of desired results with respect to those catagories. But oddly, I noticed that once I got the desired results for each of those catagories, my batting averages tended to be off by about 10% ( 10% too high, compared to real life ). So I played around with the "Hits" catagory, bumping the number higher and higher, and yet, batting averages remained the same ( 10% too high ). And all of the other statistics remained the same, too. I rather expected all of my offensive catagories to drop since I eventually started making drastic upward adjustments to "Hits", but no dice. So, just for kicks, I tried adjusting the "Hits" catagory *downward*, to see if any stats would make the corresponding upward bounce. Which led me to bug #2: 2. If hits is adjusted *down* beyond a certain point, the simulation freezes. I began a second series of tests, to see what the affect of adjusting "Hits" really was. Using the default values in the league totals, I found that : a. Adjusting hits didn't change statistics at all, and b. At Hits = 22262, the simulation locks up. I also found that if other league totals *are* adjusted, then the number at which the simulation locks changes, but I haven't spent enough time to determine what the correlations are. Hopefully, Marcus will find this useful. Thanks ( enjoying the game regardless )Chad

I hate to double-post. However...
as an addendum to Bug #2 above, it seems that if I manually set the "Average on Balls in Play" to a sufficiently low number ( say, ~.215 ) without changing any other values in the "League Totals" section of "Engine Setup", the sim crashes. Perhaps the conditions which are causing this particular crash are related? Thanks Chad

Further Oddities...
OK, further testing with league totals show some additional weirdness, at least compared to OOTP5. Again, using the new "DIPS" engine, I can tune league totals in the expected manner for most catagories: i.e. tuning the "doubles" catagory upward, causes the generated league to have fewer doubles. This is what I expected, as this is how adjustments worked in OOTP5.
However, in OOTP6, adjusting the "Average on Balls in Play" has the opposite effect: adjusting this number upwards causes league averages to increase, and adjusting downwars causes league totals to decrease... ...to a certain point. Adjusting *too* low still causes OOTP6 to freeze. Again, hoping my $.02 helps, if only a little. Best Reards, Chad
