Is it just me, or is there waaaaaay too many stolen bases!!
in simming some test seasons i have had guys breaking the century mark in stolen bases!! and its not only 1 guy i have about 7-8 per season stealing 70+. before i simmed i put each teams stealing slider in the middle and still way too many steals. is this a game bug or a roster bug?

If you're getting too many SB, go to the Engine page and edit the era settings for stolen bases.

I haven't experienced this at all. The most stolen bases I've seen by one person in one season is around 60. It might be how you setup your settings for frequency of stolen bases.

If you're using the cbl rosters, he mentioned in another thread that you should go into the era settings and set stolen bases to "seldom" for realistic SB numbers. even if you're not, you can edit the setting to your liking.

I noticed the same thing when I converted my league. I had two guys on my team with 80+ steals when normally the league leader has 60 or so. But you can tweak this so it's not really a concern of mine.

in my first OOTP6 generated league, I kicked steals up a notch and still am only seeing the leaders with 70-75 each season. Of course that's what I expected to see... this is with stealing set one level above normal with player creation set to +3% for stealing.
Not sure why you are seeing so many, but I'd guess you'd have to edit the ERA steal frequency or set your player creation % to -5 to -10.

I have teams stealing over 300 a season and league leaders over 90 a season, but I do have the era setting at often.
Just wanted Rickey, Raines and Coleman to get a few high numbered seasons in before I dropped it again

I have the same problem... League leader was 89, but there were 6 guys with over 70 SB.

Sounds like most of you with the high steal totals are using one of the "roster sets", that is the reason for the high totals. Over 10 years using fictional players no settings adjusted and the season high is 68 for an individual. Not a game issue.

And, technically speaking, if the Modern Baseball era is, as the game says, "1980+", then it should be possible for 100+ steals to happen. The average number of steals for the league leader from 1980-2003 is 72.1 in the NL and 70.3 in the AL.

I ran a test league using the default career league and default settings...steals at "normal"...played it the way it comes set up...no changes in settings.
In the AL game league stolen bases totalled 1833. In the Real AL last year the total was only 1279. In the OOTP6 NL the total was 2273...Real NL MLB only1294. Ichiro stole 98 bases in OOTP6...only 34 last year...Johnny Damon stole 65 in OOTP6...only 30 in MLB last year. It looks like the stolen base setting should be lowered to "not often" or "seldom" to get realistic figures. I will run another test season and post the results here. |

I don't doubt you guys, but I've been wanting to see those kind of steal numbers for the past few versions and even with bumping up the ERA steal setting, still am not getting more then 75 stolen bases in my fictional leagues...

The setting is "1980+", not "2003." There should be the possibility of some freak of nature stealing 130 bases. In 17 of the 24 seasons in question, at least one player has stolen >70 bases. About 30% of the time (7 times out of 24), the league leader has had more than 90.

I've noticed that all the eras have SB levels set to "normal". I guess Markus didn't get a chance to adjust the newly added feature.
