Am I being silly...

if I like to manage the games? How do most of you play? I get the impression that many people here are simming years or playing some sort of career based game. I guess a year could take a long time managing the games, but it is fun to me.

Nah, the beauty of this game is that it allows you to play it in so many different ways. There are many others who like to play out every single game, and if that's what you find to be the most fun, then there's nothing silly about that.

BTW, for the record, I rarely play out any games. I like playing the role of GM more than manager.

I usually just sim the games. Usually just one week at a time, then do roster edits, trades, FA pick-ups, etc.

I can see myself playing in GM leagues or simming seasons over the winter. Right now, fantasy baseball has my attention for 6 months, and I am enjoying the managing features of OOTP6 for a quick game over coffee in the morning. :-)

I play the opening game of the season, and then sim by the week. If I make the playoffs, I play those games out.

Is it my imagination, or is the play game option much better? I am seeing more types of plays. The options seem the same since I last played this series in STB 2003. I am getting good variety in the manage/play game option.

My first game was v4. I tried simming a historical league and playing out a current one. I quickly tired of the sim league as I felt no connection with my team. I have been playing 100% of my games and am about to hit 2008. My plan is to get each new edition and import my ongoing dynasty and just keep playing every game. It may take a long time to do but when I look back now at my first WS win in 2002 I can totally relate to what happened in that season. Who was injured, trades I made to shore up the team, injuries overcome etc.

I average right at 3 seasons played per version but mostly play from opening day until shortly after the WS. This year though I ran out of gas when that "Cub fan" knocked the ball away from Alou and hadn't played until v6 came out this week.

I know everybody has their own way of playing the game and that's what makes it great. I just find it more rewarding one game at a time.

I play out all my games and I'm currently in 2013. I don't know if I'll convert that to OOTP6 or just start a new league.
