Fantasy Baseball: Trade

What do you think of this deal? Who benefits, etc.

Team 1 gets:

Steve Finley CF - Replace Jermaine Dye as a starting OF
Joe Randa 3B - Replaces Eric Chavez
Kelvim Escobar RP - the RP is empty and this team needs someone

Team 2 gets:

Ramon Hernandez C - Becomes starting catcher
Eric Chavez - Replaces Corey Koskie/Joe Randa as starter
Jermaine Dye - Throw away guy who would either sit on bench or play UTIL.

I think that team 2 is getting a good deal.

It would depend alot on a few things.

- Is Chavez resigned?
- Who would become Team 1's Catcher
- Youth/Winning now

I think Team 1 gets better deal because Escobar is a solid RP and Randa is sick and dye is an overpriced bum

Team 2 is taking team 1 to the cleaners. Chavez is the man at 3b, you can put down a .280 avg, 30 homers, and 100 RBI in ink.

While Escobar could be a good source of wins with the Anaheim offense behind him, his WHIP from the last two seasons is 1.50 and his ERA over 4.00, so he could very well make you pay for whatever wins and K's he may supply you with.

Dye and Finley is more or less a wash.

Hernandez also has more value than Randa.

If you are team 2, make this deal before team 1 comes to there senses.

^^^^ What he said, although I think Dye is worth more than Finley.

Dye >> Finley
Chavez >> Randa
Hernandez > Escobar

Team 2 wins all 3 spots, although it's difficult to compare a catcher with a pitcher.

Team 2 by a mile. Chavez is top 3 at his position--and Dye was a .290 30 hr 100 rbi guy while he was with KC and his 1st year in Oakland--he seems to be healthy again had a good spring and is off to a good start.

I call it a wash because Finley is one of those guys that sneak in about 15 steals, while Dye isn't going to help you at all in that department.

You are probably right though, Dye has a decent amount of upside, while at 39 Finley could fall apart at any moment. I thought he had after 2001, but he just keeps going.

Dye's worth a flyer and Finley's 39 years old. He can't keep the act up for long.

Hernandez and Escobar is a wash, because both are relatively average. Hernandez won't hurt or really help at catcher, but Escobar isn't going to really help in the RP slot. Escobar looks to be starting this season, and while I think he's got a shot to be a decent starter this season, sticking a starter in your RP slot is going to push your IP limit, while costing saves.

Randa and Chavez is no contest. Randa's a mid-level 3B, at best, and Chavez is a top 5 3B.

Definately team 2.

Team #1's catcher becomes Chad Johnson(COL)
Winning Now

Randa Stats - .291 AVG, 16 HR,72 RBI, 80 Runs
Chavez Stats - .282 AVG, 29 HR,101 RBI,94 Runs

Chavez is better but is he better by so much that the other guys matter/dont matter?

IMO its:

Finley - Dye - About the same
Chavez - Randa - Chavez of course
Escobar - Hernandez - Each team needs a starter at those positions

Notes: Its kind of, Get a good RP and downgrade 3B but maybe Upgrade/have the same production OF.
