Blashpemous, but...

How do you guys compare the OOTP playing experience with PureSim? I've never played the latter, just saw screen shots as it was mentioned in another thread regarding OOTP's in-game visuals, but PureSim does seem to have a more pleasing look to it, as well as more interesting "newspaper" articles and a more user-friendly financial system. Can real players be imported into PureSim? Is (as I've read) the slow pace at which the game engine sims a major problem?

Thanks.

PureSim is a very promising game with many interesting features, however, for me, the sim speed is so slow it renders the game useless. Maybe the next version will address that. Maybe not.

I have gotten both version of PS but have really been unable to get into either of them. The lack of a real "in-game" mode hurts it for me as I like to manage my games. Shaun always does a good job with the game however and supports it well.

Hi Steve,

What do you mean by lack of a "real in game mode"?

Is there a certain aspect of in game managing that is missing and hampering your enjoyment of the game?

Shaun

Shaun,

It's really more of the fact that the "in game" portion of the game is not as developed as I'd like it(from an options stand-point). I spent a fair amount of time simming seasons, but typically that is not my style of play.

As with any two games that attempt to cover nearly the exact same ground, each will have its dedicated followers and most people will tend to prefer the first one they played.

And as you can see, if a fan of one game, even if a member of one dev team (shockingly) claims to prefer his game over the other guy's game, fans of the other game or, in this case, the other dev team will immediately challenge his views. And so not a lot gets accomplished when you ask these questions in the proprietary grounds of one or the other.

"My game is better!"
"How is your game better, my game does that."
"I don't like how your game does it as much as my game does."
"You're full of **** my game does it much better than yours you should try it before you mock it."
"I did try it that's why I know I prefer mine."
"Well you shouldn't and obviously you didn't understand."
"I know I didn't understand that was part of my problem."
"What part don't you understand?"
"You know, the thing."
"The thing is one of our strongest features! And not only that but I'm constantly coming out with new versions that tweak and improve the thing."
"I don't like your interface."
"I don't understand, what don't you like about the interface?"
"It's not user-friendly, I can't find anything."
"Everything is in the ergonomically designed best possible location. My sister-in-law confirmed this, I had her test it. If you don't like where something is in my interface, I'll look into it, but I can tell you that most people who play my game tell me that one of the things they like best about it is where things are."
"I can't get into your game."
"What can't you get into? Explain."
"I don't know it's a feel thing. Your game doesn't feel like mine."
"Well I can't really discuss 'feel.' I guess you're just not open to changing your mind and that's that."

PureSim is an enjoyable game...it just takes too long to sim, even on a high-end computer. OOTP and Diamond Mind are much faster.
