Np, but I have to assume that in "most cases" a person who posts that type of comment is seriously asking.

Hell of a game that MVP.
God, I can't wait until OOTP6 is available.
There is player progression and regression in MVP at the end of the season.

LGO, you are confusing that Opening Series (which started the MLB season) with Opening Day. Yes, the Yanks and D-Rays played already but every other team in the league is still in spring traning and playing spring training games. Opening Night is coming up this Sunday, I believe, and Opening Day will follow on Monday when Spring Training will officially be over for all of the teams and the regular season will start for the whole league.

MLB makes things too confusing.

Actually he isn't confusing anything. All he said was that the season has already started, and it has. The two games in Tokyo count in the regular season standings, therefore the season has begun.

Opening day is not until Monday. Any real baseball fan knows this those games in Japan are nothing more than Spring training games that "count"

Actually, he was confusing things. He quoted someone who said Opening Day was in 4 days and told them that the season already started. Opening Day is on Monday. There is a difference between the season starting and Opening Day. The Opening Series was a mere sideshow in Japan that opened the season for two teams while the other teams still will not kick off the season until this Monday. Yes, the season has started. No, Opening Day has not happened yet. Thus the confusion for most people.

Uh, you can't really argue with LGO if it has anything to do with schedules.

To use a quote from another thread:

This is the interpretation I subscribe to as well.

Sure, I can argue about it. But there's really nothing to argue about because it's just a matter of interpertation. MLB has never made an official statement saying what they consider Opening Day to be. It could be when they have their Opening Series in Japan or it could be when the all of the other teams start playing their games a week later. It's hard to say. I happen to say it's the latter of the two. As a Phillies fan, my season hasn't started yet. And fans of many other teams can say that as well but the Yankees and Devil Rays have already played two regular season games so people could make arguments that way too. I just happen to think that Opening Day marks the end of spring training games and the beginning of the regular season for everyone. Since spring training games are still happening, I don't think Opening Day has happened yet.

I have to agree with Glanville4mvp about opening day. I think that baseball, playing two games before spring training is over makes the schedule look lousy.

As far as I'm concerned, opening day is Monday.

The Yankees opened the season in another country.... it isnt baseball season til the first pitch is thrown here in the states

Now, Since the Yanks lost ... I might be willign to change my opinion since I'm all the a big "LOSE" on the Yanks record during any major league season heh

D'oh. After being away for a few days I got back to the boards tonight and read up for a while. Then I just now went back to the main page and thought this was a new April screenshot thread that I had just somehow missed. I felt like quite the doofus upon seeing the March post dates and that this was now a thread about opening whatever, which according to my new CIST (calendar independent scheduling theorem, not to be confused with my new "cyst") is clearly shown as non-intuitively and surprisingly occurring within the same 10-15 minute range in 80-85% of MLB seasons regardless of when games are actually played.
