Oh well. We're just trying to motivate him so he can code faster.

I'm waiting for those new screenshots. That should hold me over for awhile, considering I'll be drooling on my keyboard for the next 2 weeks.

My only question - if we do up real schedules from days of yore, which include doubleheaders, will they work? Will OOTP6 support doubleheaders? Pleeeease

"I smell a release."

I think that quote is going to be around here for a long time. It even beats out my "I feel a release."

Oh yeah, and I like the CSV export thingy. But I think I'd pay $25 for OOTP6 if it just had the one rating for pitchers :P

Double headers worked in our tests... you just have to make sure that the games are far apart with the starting times, i.e. 1st game 1 pm and second game 8 pm....

I like the part about April 15. Which means 15 more days of asking if/when the game is going to be released, and 378 more threads dealing with that

lol good one jleznek..

He said it should be ready BY April 15, which means he could very well have it done April 5th. ANY day is potentially a release day from here to the 15th. I wish I could sleep for the next 5 days, as I'm sure it won't be released already. I want an alarm clock on my computer that would go off once thegame is available, that way I don't miss it when I'm sleeping.

A beta version would be sort of cool, even though we'd probably all need to sign NDA's or something.
However, there's another thread about releasing the game sooner than the 15th that Markus just posted.
Make sure you vote for "YES!"

Ability to import/export spring traing plans via FTP

You'll be able to send your sring training file via ftp, basically the same as you can send lineups and FA bids via ftp now. Prior to this feature you had to email the "ST" file to your commish.

Meh, I guess that sounds like an okay feature to have...

Just kidding!!!

That is EXCELLENT news!! It's going to save anyone wanting to use a real-world schedule or a hand-crafted fictional schedule A LOT of time since they won't have to enter it by hand anymore. And now it means those doing a historical replay using the Lahman Database will have the option of playing their seasons with the real players on the real MLB schedules. That's a good thing.

However, I have to point out one VERY important caveat: In what format and layout does the schedule data need to be in if it's going to be imported into the game? There are a great many ways of organizing the data in a schedule; it can be shown team-by-team, or organized strictly chronologically, or something in between. What about the start times for games? Can these be included in some way in the source files for importation? And so on. There are a great many possibilities here to be considered.

I bring this up because I worry that the format and layout needed for successful importation is going to be incompatible with all the schedule files I currently have available (over 200 at the moment, counting both the major and minor leagues). This is not necessarily a bad thing it itself, if it is easy to convert the files I have to the format/layout needed for importation. But if it isn't easy, then it could pose a problem, because it would be very impractical to hand-convert that many files over to a new format.

It would be really great to get an idea of what the export/import layout is going to look like...

Well, that is some excellent news as well!

Of course, great news like this also raises a couple of questions I'd lik to ask. Does this mean that the AI will properly understand that two games are taking place on the same day and set its lineup and use its pitchers appropriately? This was perhaps the biggest stumbling block with twin bills in OOTP5, which, while capable of doing doubleheaders more or less, the AI didn't really understand them and didn't use its players accordingly. What about smaller things like player fatigue? Is that accounted for? And it is safe to say there are no issues at all with player stats when there are two games in one day?

Setting the start time for the two games far enough apart sounds reasonable enough. I presume 5 hours apart would be sufficient in most cases?

Anwyay, this is two fantastic pieces of news. Thanks very much!!!
