Is it in the best interest of the boards to not give progress reports on how testing is going? I don't need a release date all I ask for is "the testing is on schedule and the game should be out within the next week or two" or "we found a few problems and the game should be released within more towards mid april." Every game gives release dates, I don;t need that, just an Idea would be nice.

ROFLMBAO!!!

1. Not trying to be your mother, that is for sure. I hope your mother wouldn't laugh at you like I am right now.

2. Sure it is their business and they have that right. I also have the right to point out that they have no logical leg to stand on whatsoever.

3. Let's try to stay above petty name-calling. It is really unbecoming.

Hrm. Guess that answers my question about Kuffrey. lol.

I was all with him about people just shuttin' up and lettin' it slide, but that last one kinda irked me a little.

Reigning omnipotent on your customer base is a lil' harsh I'd say.

Feel the love Kuffrey.

edit: Apologies Steve. Thanks for the PM. Lack of context is an ugly thing.

I think Skydog's post makes for a good voice of reason, so maybe you need to calm down.

As much time as some people spend on here ranting, you'd think they would have read all the posts by now. Kuffrey has been quite clear that testing is going well and release is not immenent. What does that mean? Sounds to me like it means the game will come out between Opening Day (Monday) and April 15th. Just like they've said all along. I'm sure if the release was different, they'd tell us. But TESTING IS GOING WELL so take a couple deep breaths, remember it's just a game, and entertain yourself somehow else.

Actually, we have been given a lot of information, and it's not hard to use the information we have to extrapolate a "ballpark" release date. We know the game's in beta, we know from experience with other games that beta usually starts 30 days or so before release, we know Markus is trying very hard to get the game out before April 15, but has learned the hard way not to commit to specific dates. We're not late enough to presume there's a serious problem, and Steve just told us release is not imminent, so we won't make opening day. The way I figure it, there's a 95% chance the release will be between April 10 and April 30. Honestly, we don't want it before "it has been fully tested and found to be ready", do we?
The DIPS system and expanded pbp is a big change to the existing baseball engine. They need to playtest it enough to get it right, along with the "customizable" portions of the player development and AI. Customizing those elements does not sound like a trivial task. I just want them to be more concerned about doing it right than the ticking calendar.

To be honest...I'm really happy they aren't telling everyone a release date. I really am impressed. They learned their lesson with ITP and know that this is the best way....because when you say the game will be out on a certain date...it has to be or you have no integrity.

THis way...you can release the game whenever you want without lying to everyone.

Kudos.

Hello, this is Stan Johnson, Live Action News. I am proud to release the transcript from an interview I just completed. This is an interview with Steve Kuffrey, part of Out of The Park Developments, that was just done 2 hours ago:

Stan: Hello Steve, how are things going?

Steve: OOTP6 will be released when it has been fully tested and found to be ready.

Stan: No, no, I was just wondering how you were doing.

Steve: Fine, I guess.

Stan: Thats great!! So, can you tell me how delighted you are that everyone on the OOTP6 thread is excited about the upcoming release.

Steve: Well, we are all delighted by the upcoming release, except for many of the newbies that need to smacked around a little.

Stan: That sounds like my wife.

Steve: Are you saying I sound like your wife.

Stan: No....

Steve: I will kill you and eat your children.

Stan: Speaking of eating, chicken or beef.

Steve: ...................

Stan: Nevermind. What do you think about gladiator movies?

Steve: Is this merlin9761?

Stan: No. I just need to someone to hold me.

Steve: Okay, I gotta go.........

Stan: Wait!! One more question. This is really my most thought provoking question. When will OOTP6 be released?

Steve: (Door Slam)

Well there you have it folks. It looks like the game will be released tonight!! Wow, this is amazing. I am so glad that everyone now knows about. You see, OOTPD has just been teasing us, just like Steve was with showing me his sexy chest hair. This is Stan Johnson, Live Action News!!

LOL!

I do sort of agree with SkyDog. We're all sort of sitting around here yelling at OOTP Developments to give us updates, and making images regarding OOTP6. If you really think about it, we're all sitting around in a message board, prodding developers for a release date and trying to force a release date out of Steve for a baseball simulation by prodding him to death. Wow, there's something wrong with that now that I think about it... Now I have the extreme urge to play FOF 2004 and wait patiently for OOTP. Well, sort of. But I do agree with SkyDog that they've given us enough information already, so we should atleast stop badgering the crap out of them. Even though prodding them with big sticks is sort of fun every once in awhile...

So let's just all stop blatantly insulting each other, and have fun

I hope no one forgets I predicted an April 13th release about 4 weeks ago. That sticky thread is no longer up.
