First Head-To-Head Tourney...
Is anybody hosting it???
If I were to host a tournament, not necessarily the first one, I'd probably start with a 16 team tourney, using the 2004 rosters, and the teams get to choose a team they want to use. Best of 3 games for the first two rounds, then best of 5 in the final four, then perhaps a 7 game Tournament Championship. This is going to be really exciting. I can feel it now. Edit: I know there was some talk already about *Insert name here*(I can't remember who it was) doing one. |

How would you set it up? Al 3 games on a day that the two players agree on, give them 4 days to complete the games? It will be awesome, but I would to see how it works first. Do we even know if we can play out our 3 games and then upload them without screwing up the league fie because only are games were played out. I can't wait for this feature, but I think more details on it would be very helpful.

I see what you're saying..
We also don't even know if there is a tournament mode in the game, I was thinking more along the line the tourney director just having to write the brackets up. Keeping injuries off. Considering all this is, is a shortened season. But, I dunno. |

Also, maybe a round-robin tournament would be easiest, and the best way to go. Have 16 teams, 4 or 8 teams in 4, or 2 divisions(respectively), play each other a number of games then have a 4 team, or 8 team tourney between the best teams. I'm just itching to play one already.

Well, if I had the webspace and time, I would love to get a 64 or 128 team touney going with the winners of the online leagues getting invited. It would work that every team would be placed in a 16 team "league" that would represent the regionals. So, that way it would be 16 team league zip files being DL'd. After the team that wins each of the regionals being placed in another "league" and playing from there. I don't know how wel the Pierre importer/exporter would work, and how easy it would be to take teams out of leagues and place them into new ones. I think that would make for an excellent tournament, and I think alot of league commishes would be in support of something like that. I'm all for tournaments, I just hope we can get them done in game. For the first idea you had, I would just imagine you would schedule the teams to whatever game series that you choose for that round and go from there. It could happen, but we need to see how it affects the files when someone finishes a series. I mean, if we had to do head-to-head one game a day it would be ok, but a little time consuming. But that's just what I think. Sorry for the rambling post.

Now, what would be really crazy, going off what you were mentioning, a 64/128 team tourney with using the "BEST OF THE BEST TOURNAMENT" that was used in a few Dynasty Reports I've seen. Now that would be crazy and time consuming as well.
Anyhow. I'm off to play basketball, so my idea is out in the open for everyone else to discuss. |

Well, it could be time consuming, but if you could get the players to commit to playing 3 games within two days time, it wouldn't be too bad. But, it's just something that I had floating in my head. I think it would be cool, but just something that needs to be fleshed out.

Well then, let's stick to the 16 team tourney to start! I just want to get one under my belt. And then someone could host a site with the All-Time Tourney Winners and stuff. Kinda like Ladders, but you can't do ladders with this, I think. It'd be too hard in my opinion.

all time great teams imported from lahman's would be cool. i wouldn't want to be the 16th best 2004 team facing the few elite mlb clubs.

I definitely think a Head-to-Head tourney would be awesome, the more teams the better... But if I were to set up a tournament, I think it would go something like this:
a) Any number of owners could join. b) There are two fictional teams, with identically talented players (different names) so what team you play as doesn't matter. c) You play a 7-game play-off against each other. The winner advances to the next bracket, the loser is eliminated. d) Next round, the season is reset, and the remaining teams play 7 game series, repeat until finished. I would definitely be up for playing in such a tournament, and might set one up someday. Until then, however, I'm running a Head-to-Head OOTP6 league, aptly titled the H2HBL (Head-to-Head Baseball League). Check my signature for a link. |

I'd definitely be into something like this. Maybe you could use all World Series teams? but I have dibs on the '93 Phillies

Ha ha, no thanks. I'll be quite happy if I never have to relive that moment again. Maybe I'll sneak in the ESPN Classic studio and find that tape and steal it so it can never be shown again. That would be nice.
