No, I hope it doesn't come out since I haven't pre-ordered it yet. Waiting to get up the gumption to mention to my wife that I need yet another version of the same game.

What, I ask you, is the point of becoming an adult if you can't blow a few bucks on something you want without getting in trouble for it?

I respectfully submit that there isn't any.

I put in the preorder and told my wife the next day. She didn't mind.

Like they say, "Ask for forgiveness, not permission".

Whenever I want to spend money I use the same excuse - "Hey, I don't play golf!!!"

I told mine she had a choice...I could drop the $25 on the game and be home every night... or I could start clubbing and blow $25 every half hour for three hours a night, six nights a week. She chose OOTP. LOL

Here's your selling point 6toes.

You tell your wife that, at some point this year, you will purchase the game. Now, does she want you to spend $25 to get it immediately, or $35 if you wait a few weeks to buy.

That's how I got the go-ahead. Oh yeah, it was also my birthday when I submitted said justification, so YMMV.

I always have to ask the voices in my head before I purchase stuff.

I assume that most of us playing the game don't spend an evening dropping cash on clothes, crafts, scrapbooking supplies (insert other activity here) but our wives probably do.

I just did what my wife always does to me. I pre-ordered the game, then the next day I told her a little sheepishly (that's how she does it) that I bought a new baseball game for $25. She said 'Oh - ok' and then moved to a new topic.

At least this hobby doesn't cost a fortune like my other hobby (home theater - the equipment alone costs a bundle and somehow always seems to be obsolete before I even get it home, and of course DVD's are another $15 or so a pop).

Well actually we forgot to exchange holiday gifts this year, so, I do sort of have something coming.

Yes, we forgot. We always do it when we get home from visiting my folks for Christmas, and then we see her folks for Hanukkah, and sometime after that, we usually do our thing. But this year it was Feb. 1 and we were like, Aw, screw it. But it's a good way in, I think.

On the radio today the subject for the lame-ass morning drive DJ was "video game widows." Holy crap did it generate a lot of calls! Apparently we are not the only ones who are spending too much time on the computer.

My wife sees me spend $35 on one game nowdays. Back in the 90s, it was $50 each for 6 games. She loves OOTP.

"What was that you said? UT2k4? Far Cry? Half-Life II? Uh... when is OOTP6 coming out?"

"Oh. Yeah. You're right. I wouldn't play them anyway."
