Can't We All Just Get Along???

You know, I know there are alot of anxious people out there waiting for version 6, myself included. Some of us had made posts about being anxious and so on... But honestly, I can't believe how much fighting and bickering is going on back and fourth over this.

We are all waiting for a great baseball game. We are all very excited... It's supposed to be fun and loaded with enjoyment, not all of this other stuff.

Here are the facts:

This game was announced to be released right around opening day. Opening day isn't here yet so the game is not late. There has been no announcement that the game will be late. So at this point in time there is no reason to believe that the game won't be out right around opening day.

There is no need for fuss, no need for fighting. Yes, you can be anxious and excited all you want. But lets keep the boards a fun place to be and not scare anyone away. We don't want to give others a bad name about this board or product.

Just my .02.

Almost....

Out of the Park 6 is rapidly approaching beta testing and should be ready for release around Opening Day.
(My emphasis on a couple of potentially important words...)

here's another fact

i've never seen one of these game company boards *not* have bickering around the release of a new version or patch...

what makes you think it's gonna be different this time??

You know what's funny? Come World Series time, I bet not one person remembers whether OOTP6 came out before or after opening day. And if by chance someone does, I bet no one will care...

True....and I'd actually bump up that timetable. Even if I feel at the time like the wait is forever (for example, the family emergency that caused an unexpected delay in FOF2K4's release this past fall), the time without the game becomes immaterial to me within a few days after I have the game.

Plus, as picky as I am, I'll end up doing just like I've done with every text sim I've bought: get it on release day, play it some, discover whatever bugs and statistical imbalances there are, then stop playing it until the first patch is released. I've yet to feel the full enjoyment of any text sim on release day.

It's like children expectantly waiting for Christmas....they count the days, opening a window on the Advent Calender every night, thinking of the toys that they have dreamed owning....then Christmas Eve draws nigh, and they have a hard time sleeping...they here furtive noises coming from the parlor, wondering who is out there and what toys await...then the day comes, and they run about frantically opening their gifts...Oh the wonder and joy that abounds during those moments....an hour later, they're in front of the TV, watching Bugs Bunny!.......

Re:

Now imagine that because your parents didn't buy the gifts on time and the store sold out, they say you won't get your Christmas presents until New Year's. I'd still be excited to get great presents, but I'd be pretty frustrated about the irresponsible delay.

The funniest part:

The Vets aren't laying into the Newbies anywhere near as bad as it use to be ...

... imagine if Malleus was still around ...

Re:

Laying off is not only good for the community, it's good for the vets. Just because someone is a newbie doesn't mean they haven't had the experience elsewhere to hand a vet their ass on a stick. It's much better if people attempt to get along and just discuss things in a rational, productive manner.

does OOTP developments owe you this game ? Because that's a deeply flawed analogy elsewise.

It's friggin' hilarious that this forum drama HAPPENS EVERY YEAR.

EVERY YEAR. Be it early release, opening day release, or late release.

SAME THING, EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.

We are talking about a message board, right? I think we can stop with the melodrama. The way you talk, some of us will be leaving here with a busted lip.

Point blank, I'll enter debate with someone until I find them to be a one trick pony -- ie, just trying to get a rise out of me by pointing out inane BS like semantics or grammar mistake -- because then it just becomes an annoyance. That's when the iggy list goes into effect.

No punches thrown here and no asses passed around on sticks.

If you've pre-ordered it, yes. If not, no.

"Can't We All Just Get Along???" isn't always a good question to ask. If the answer is yes, then fine. If the answer is no, we'd end up hating each other more before the question was asked.

So, you're saying as a n00b, you don't mind that you've had your "ass handed to you on a stick?"
