Further to mastro's comment I've also noticed it resets, on the League Setup screen, both Trade Frequency and Trade Frequency to ENABLED. It also resets the current Era setting to a blank line.
Also (Sorry Dave!!) when you play the first game of the season, the PbP speed is set to NO.

None of these are biggies as it only takes a couple of clicks to right the situation.

Dave,

Fantastic job, my first chance to use it was tonight with a historical league beginning in "MY" first year as a baseball fan 1969.

Thanks for all your work and support.

I've been using the generator in 3 leagues and have never had it reset any of the league setup options. I've played 3 seasons in one league, 4 in the 2nd, and 2 in the 3rd..

Sorry guys---I haven't had time to look at this, but I might know why this is happening.

I am guessing that if you have OOTP4 open when you create the scheudles, the options you select for the league are being overwritten.

I suggest closing OOTP4, then generate your schedules. Then reopen OOTP4 and see if your options were changed.

I think that if you have OOTP4 open, and you generate the schedule--- your league options are not "saved" yet (still in memory)... and then are not written to disk.

Just an idea.... I will try to look at it early next week. My weekend is already shot.

Question

I would like to bring back a piece from early in this thread. A person was talking about wanting to be able to have a perfectly balanced schedule of 12 games per opponent, and you had mentioned that the program wasn't designed to solve that problem. Can that be a possible re-design? Maybe a separate program?
Here is what I was thinking (and I'm not a programmer/designer, I just play one on my PC, so you will have to tell what's blue sky thinking), that you would put in how many division games you want, how many out-of-division games you want, how many interleague series you want (always 3 per series), and it tells you how many games in the season and then runs the calculations to fit them the best into the 26 week time frame.
I'm figuring that since you already have your engine built, you would be able to use that as the jumping-off point, so you would know best if that is possible.

Thank you for your time!

I found out how to prevent the schedule generator from changing the system settings. I was running schedule.exe from within my league folder (\ootp4\mlb.lg). I moved it out to my desktop and ran it from there and the system settings did not change anymore.

Okay, I'm having a weird problem, and I'm not sure if it's related to the schedule generator or not. It's 2006 in my MLB league, and I was going along happily. Lalalalalalala. Then comes May, and the date on all the pages except the main news page and schedule page rolls over to... April 1st. It hasn't really affected the progress of the season, just some minor stuff, but it's now early August, but most of the stuff is saying it's early July, and teams can still make trades. It's okay as a one-year thing, but it's still weird and I'm not sure what caused it.

Dave, first off--great program. Thanks.

I am having a strange problem, though. I am running a fictional league, in it's first year, with only 8 teams--4 teams in each league with only one division in each league. (I plan on many expansions, but I am keeping it small while I learn the game.)

So, I set up the scheduler for a 162 game season, with 7 series against interleague opponents, and an all-star break. When I ran the scheduler, I got a "game # must be even" error. 162 IS even. I changed it to 161, and it worked -- making a 160 game schedule.

I had to go into the OOTP scheduler and manually add the other two games for each team. A curious and possibly related offshoot of this is that, in the expanded league standings, the magic number is based on 160 games, even though I have added the 2 extras to make it 162.

So, a great program -- much better than the OOTP scheduler, but just thought I'd tell you about the bug. Thanks.
