Post Be careful what you hope for!

After playing three seasons with OOTP3 in a fictional league (drafting) I won the championship all three seasons. Oddly enough without ever winning my division (wild card all three) I got OOTP4 and decided to start fresh. I drafted a league and proceeded to go 38-16, well on my way to what appeared to be yet another great season. This frustrated me! Not because I apparently drafted well, but because I thought maybe the challenge wasn't there.

So I decided to stop this season and start a fresh one with default rosters. I was torn between taking Tampa Bay, Montreal, or Pittsburgh. I finally took Pittsburgh after closely reviewing the rosters. Well needless to say I am thrilled to have the challenge I was looking for. I just rolled into May and currently I am 9-21 (10 GB Chicago Cubs) My pitching and fielding is awful! I am so happy!

I know exactly what you mean. The Cardinals were too easy for me as well. Now, with the Expos, things are a little different.

Using a suggestion from another poster, here is what I did.

I played my beloved Cardinals until I won a world series...took 8 years.

I then received an offer I couldn't refuse, and took control over the absolute worst team in the Major Leagues.

I sucked hard the first 2 years, and I am returning this franchise to respectability.

Guess what happens when I win the world series with this team?

Yep, another team awaits, and another challenge.

And it is fun to watch my cards do things a little different...after 3 years, it is a significantly different team from what I left.

Cheers

I did something similar, I simmed out the first 3 seasons, then took over Tampa Bay. Now 5 seasons into running Tampa, my team is in first place and the Fan Support has gone from the low of 13 now up to 46 and climbing. I actually sold out a couple of games too, a far cry from the 18000 the team was averaging when I took it over. I am also doing this right now with a 27 million payroll. Hopefully the Market will continue to grow, it improved from Almost Nonexistent to Tiny last season.

But I agree once the team is a viable contender for a period of time and I win a Series with them it will be off to the worst team in the league and try to rebuild them, well unless it is a New York team, and the Mets were one of the worst in the league for last few years.

If I have to run a new team, and it is the Mets, then I will just rename (and move) the franchise.

Simple fix!

Doing the same thing as the Pirates...Im in my second season and have the 2nd lowest payroll. I got screwed in the offseason by Matt Anderson. I was winning the bid for him till the last day and he signed with the Tigers. The happiest day of my ootp4 life.
