Next DUMB question: When I download the Lahman it automatically puts most of the players from a historical season on the active roster. The rest are on the minors rosters right? How do I get a Keith Atherton ('87 Twins) onto the ACTIVE roster since he pitched in 59 games that year? I'm sure this is easy, but I don't see it explained anywhere.

I'm not sure I follow...can't you demote (drag and drop) an active player to the minors and then promote (drag and drop) Atherton to the majors?

When I go to the Twins team page (or any other team page to look at the rosters - if I click on a player to drag into the minors or wherever - it opens up his player page with photo, stats, ratings, etc. Do I have to be in a different screen in the game to move players from league to league or minors to bigs?

The "transaction" screen is the one you use to move players around. Plus, if you want them to "stay" where you put them the team needs to be human owned.

You must be on the Transactions screen, then you can drag and drop players to the appropriate level of the Disabled List, or the Trading Block.
Hope this helps. |

what a bunch of snobs....you know...if a person is just getting this game he will have to search to just find the manual. I always keep in mind that not everyone has the same amount of computer knowledge. Many people don't dare even click on the "my computer" icon. Many people have no idea what a "message board" is.
If these questions bother you guys so much, I would suggest finding other ways to spend your time than hanging out on a message board all freakin day. What a waste. |

HOW TO FIND THE MANUAL
The manual, FYI, is in the OOTP subdirectory called "Manual." Click on the file manual.chm and you will be amazed at the wealth of questions that the manual will be able to answer for you. And there's even a search function! What could you possibly be you waiting for? RTFM. (Read The Friendly Manual) ************* As to the insults being tossed, consider just how big a display of bad manners and laziness it is for n00bs to ask veterans to take the time - over and over and over again - to answer exceedingly simple questions that a few moments persual of the manual would have answered. For Pete's sake, the manual even has a "Search" function built in to it. You virtually have to be a moron not to be able to find the right answer to any basic OOTP question in it. But Reading The Friendly Manual would, of course, actually involve effort on the part of the n00bs. How much easier it is for them to come here, where people are supposed to - in fact, are even sometimes viewed as being obligated to - leap to answer their every question that two minutes spent with the manual would have answered in great detail.

Since he has a number of posts, and he had the knowledge to download the database, I don't think it's fair of you to present this indidvidual as a person without computer knowledge or afraid to use his pc. I thought it was the database giving him a problem, not the fact he didn't even know the basics of the game. Usually a player learns the game before using extra downloads so I made the mistake of presuming he did. So please, don't turn this into something it's not. Reading the friendly manual is good advise for anyone. |

I consider myself a computer novice and I am pleased that I WAS able to incorporate the Lahman into my game. One statement I can make is that I am DEFINITELY thankful to everyone who helps out with my sometimes painful questions.
I have read several postings that even I thought were rediculous, but guess what, those are the ones I don't comment on if I'm not going to be helpful. Thank you JP Falcon (I believe you were trying to help). Thank you Steve Kuffrey Thank you ScottVib Thank you MarkPrior22 OH,Malleous Dei - what's your "FRIENDLY" problem? LTBOMB |

Problem? I just don't like to use bad words on the board.
In public I always maintain that the "F" in SNAFU, FUMTU, TARFU, FUBAR, JANFU, FUBB, and TASFUWNAA stands for "Fouled," too.

These are standard military acronyms decribing screwups ranging from the plain and ordinary bad ones to the really, really bad ones:
SNAFU = Situation Normal, All F***ed Up FUMTU = F***ed Up More Than Usual TARFU = Things Are Really F***ed Up FUBAR = F***ed Up Beyond All Recognition JANFU = Joint Army-Navy F*** Up FUBB = F***ed Up Beyond Belief (Also FUBAB, F***ed Up Beyond All Belief) TASFUWNAA = Things Are So F***ed Up We Need Another Acronym
