Owner Needed
Our league, Diamond Kings Baseball (www.seamheads.com), is looking for a new owner to take over the Boston Red Sox. I'm the league's founder and current Red Sox owner, but I'm looking to shift my responsibilities, so I can concentrate on the league as a whole. You won't meet a nicer bunch of guys, either.
The league has been around for about three calendar years and we're about to start our ninth season. We're using real players from 1901 to 2003 and the league is pretty stocked with talent. In fact, each team is probably too talented, but we'll save that for another thread. I could spend hours describing all the highlights of the league, but I recommend you just visit the web site and read the league constitution and check out the message board. We're currently using OOTP5 and I'm not sure if we're going to switch to OOTP6 or not (the league's owners sometimes get testy when they have to relearn stuff, lol). But I'm assuming we will. Anyway, please come take a look and let me know if you're interested in joining. You can e-mail me at seamhead@hotmail.com. Thanks, Mike |

I'm still looking for an owner for my league. We're almost done with our amateur draft and are about to start our free agent auction, which is one of the most enjoyable parts of the offseason.
If you need some enticement, the Red Sox currently boast a line up of Al Simmons, Pete Rose, Nomar Garciaparra, Roberto Alomar, Wally Joyner, and Willie McGee. Our pitching isn't as solid, but Nick Maddox has been one of the league's top aces and Karl Best is one of the league's strongest and most consistent closers. We don't have much on the farm and our available cash may not bring much on the free agent market, but we should do okay. And the addition of "Columbia George" Smith will strengthen our bullpen significantly. Our constitution is very comprehensive and our Rules Committee is thorough and always coming up with ways to make the league more enjoyable. Ownership of the game isn't necessary, although it makes the commissioner's life easier if you have it. If you're still not sold, we held a convention last year in Chicago in order to meet each other face-to-face for the first time and I hear it was a tremendous success (Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend). League members went to Wrigley Field to see a Cubs game, enjoyed the Chicago night life, and played an East vs. West wiffle ball game. This year's gathering is scheduled for Boston in August. Tickets to a Red Sox game have already been purchased and one of our league members will be hosting a barbecue at his house. I have no doubt the traditional wiffle ball game will be played as well. If any of this interests you, drop me an e-mail and I'll answer any questions you may have. I can be reached at seamhead@hotmail.com. Thanks again! |

Willis,
Thanks for the kudos. And I actually live in Rhododendron, but I didn't want anyone to make fun of me. ![]() |
