Lightbulb Star Ratings in OOTP 6

FYI - OOTP 6 has the option to turn off the star rating.

So, folks really can now play the game without seeing any ratings, so that they just have to go by scouting reports and stats

Having missed out on the rating system in OOTP5, I will definitely be interested in seeing the rating system at work in V.6.

That's great, Markus. While I'll use the star rating, I am really liking the level of customization the game is starting to have.

The star system is alright to judge talent from a far, but i've had 1 star pitchers with good avoding walks and homers become 200 game winners.

Agreed. I have a 2.5 star RF (Jay Gibbons) in the ULB. He had 48 HR 130 RBI and a .285 AVG. I like the Star ratings because it's just another tool to evaluate talent. And the more ways of doing that, the better

If coaches and scouts are on, then of course it's a good idea to turn it off. Otherwise I don't think so, but it's still great to have it as an option.

I just wish alot of other things were options as well

Keep up the great work Markus!

Exactly. The only frustrating thing about the star system is that you can have really good players and they still "suck" as compared to the star system. This offseason in the WSIBL, I signed Garrett Anderson (http://www.wsibl.net/wsibl1/p926.html) and he's listed as a 2 star hitter, but the previous two seasons he hit .300 with 20 HR a year. Doesn't seem two star to me, but it just points out that LF is stacked within the league I guess.

Alot of players I question how they aren't 'starred' better. I could list probably 20-30.

Garret Anderson = most underrated player in baseball.

The stars are basically a comparison of all of the players at the same position. If you have a 2.5 star RF hitting 30 HR, chances are it's not because he isn't any good. It is because there are better players at that position.

I believe that in OOTP6, you will be able to choose how much stats factor into a guy's value, which might affect stars. Or might not.

Absolutely. An easy way to check this is to change a player's position (for guys who are rated at multiple spots). A 2.5 star RF might be a 4 star 3B, depending on the depth of talent at that position in the league. At least it sure does look that way.

While I think it would be a sweet thing to add into online gaming... Think about it...

Without the stars, there will probably be about a 75% drop in the amount of trades every year. One good thing though, is Free Agency, that will be an exciting part in the off-season.
