Rumors Swirl Soriano On the Block?

Texas- Rumors in Texas have been swirrling round and round about Soriano on his way out. Is this true or is it really just a rumor? We asked Soriano and GM John Hart earlier today about the Rumors and here is both of their replies.... These interviews were conducted seperately.

Soraino:Yes, i have heard about the rumors. I am really not sure if they are true but i will not be upset if dealt from this Texas franchise. I do want to play here this season but if i can go somewhere else to help a team i will gladly do it.

John Hart: Yes, i have also heard these rumors and i have to say they are somewhat true. 3 nights ago we talked to the Mets and had a deal that is still on the table for both teams. The whitesox also offered us a deal. I will not release either deal but i will give you one name that is involved in the deal. That one name is Jose Reyes. We are really only stuck at what contract we would have to take back to make this work but so far the deal is not final. Soriano is very hard to trade so we are not sure yet what we are going to do.

Thats crazy. The only way you should trade Alfonso Soriano is if you would be getting 4.5-5.0 star guys that are 28 or younger. Trading Soriano for anything less would be hurting your team

And since you probally wont get anyone to give a 4.5 27 year old pitcher for him, you would be better off to keep him. Soriano is great player to build around. I see too many guys just dump franchise guys off to a team for a pack of gum and a bucket of warm spit.

If i had soriano, i would keep him. I would not shop him at all. Thats all i'm trying to say.

Texas-GM John Hart today announced that Sp Chan Ho Park has been added to the trading block along with Alfonso Soriano. Hart said he has added Park to the block because his contract is just too much and the team cannot afford to keep it around. Hart also stated and i quote " FOR ANYONE TO GET SORIANO IT WILL TAKE A SECOND BASEMAN AND A PITCHER". Many teams have exspressed interest in Soriano such as... Mets, Whitesox and two other teams that have not been identified.

Texas added 3 more runs in the 8th on 2 Eric Young Rbi's and a Ramon Nivar Rbi. And that was the finally score as Texas took the game 5-1.

Decision Made on Soriano

Texas- Owner John Hart announced today that Alfonso Soriano will not be traded and will remain with the club throughout this year and hopefully next year. Hart was asked why this decision as made and he replied. I made this decision because management feels we can build our club around Soriano and he is a very good player.

Dickey Rocked in first start of season

Texas played its first home game of the year and it was not pretty at all for R.A. Dickey as he allowed 5 ER in 3 innings. Texas actually started out the game well taking a 1-0 lead after 1 on a Rbi single from Mark Teixeira. But in the bottom of the 2nd thing went bad as Anaheim scored 4 runs on 4 hits. Salmon Glaus Erstad and Eckstein each had an Rbi that inning. And from there they never looked back as Anaheim won the game 14-5. Jeff Davanon had a solo shot, Garrett Anderson had a 2 run blast and Jose Guillen had a solo shot for Anaheim. Anaheim hit only them 3 homeruns this game.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Jeff Davanon 3-3 3 Rbi's
Wp-John Lackey (1-0)
Lp-R.A. Dickey (0-1)

Ryan Drese pitches 8 strong to give texas the win
Ryan Drese was the star of this game allowing 2 runs neither of them allowed and both scored in the first after an error by Rusty Greer. Anaheim took a 2-0 lead after 1 inning of play. Texas got their first run in the bottom of the 4th on a Laynce Nix single making it 2-1 Anaheim after 4. Texas would tie the game in the bottom of the 6th with Laynce Nix's second Rbi of the game scoring Hank Blalock. In the 7th with runners on the corner up came Hank Blalock and hammered a single up the middle scoring Einar Diaz to give Texas a 3-2 lead. And from there Ryan Drese shut them down throiugh 8 and Francisco Cordero pitched a one hit 9th to get the save his 2nd on the season.

Rogers and Lewis rocked in Texas loss
Once again the pitching failed the Texas Rangers in a 12-2 loss tonite. The game was squared away at 1 until the Top of the 5th when Rogers decided not to try anymore and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and the Angels took a 3-1 lead. Texas had a 4-1 lead heading into the Top 7th when once again Rogers allowed 2 more runs when Tim Salmon hit a single into left Scoring 2 runs Salmon was thrown out at 2nd. Colby Lewis came in in the 8th and allowed 6 more runs in the 8th making it 12-1 heading into the btm of the 8th. And it remained that way until the bottom of the 9th when Blalock doubled in Michael young to make the score 12-2. And that as the final score.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Hank Blalock 5-5 1 RBI
Wp-Bartolo Colon (1-0)
Lp-Kenny Rogers (0-1)

Great Game in Texas ends with another Texas loss
What a great game it was tonite as the Rangers lost their 2nd straight(NO THATS NOT THE GOOD PART). The game was very competitve all the way through. The first runs of the game were scored in the top of the 4th on a 2 run homerun by Garett Anderson. So Anaheim took a 2-0 lead going into the btm of the 4th were they answered with 2 runs of their own. A 2-run blast by Mark Teixeira tied the game at 2. The game stayed dead locked at 2 heading into the bottom of the 7th when PH Garald Laird had a scarifice fly scoring Eric Young. Texas took a 3-2 lead goin into the 8th. Erstad scored a sac fly and a throwing error by the rightfield to tie the game at 3 after 8. In the top of the 9th Cordero came into pitch and Garrett Anderson scored on a single by Chone Figgins and Anaheim took a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the 9th. Percival came in and shut down Texas to get the save for Anaheim.

Figueroa takes Dickeys spot in rotation!

Texas- Today the Rangers have announced that recently signed Nelson Figueroa will take R.A. Dickeys spot in the rotation as the 4th starter. John Hart said that Dickey was better suited to come out of the pen and he thinks Nelson can provide the team with some hard throwing. Texas's next game is Vs Oakland in a 3 game series at home. Benoit,Figueroa and Drese are scheduled to start in that order.

As a Ranger fan, it's almost unbearable to look at that rotation on paper. It will be interesting to see how long it takes you to do something with these guys.

Benoit and Texas shell shocked after huge loss

Texas once again fails to preform at home. Texas record at home this season is a measly 1-4. Well the game recap goes like this. In the bottom of the 1st Mark Teixeira singled in Mike Young to take an early 1-0 lead after 1. Heading into the 2nd is when it got ugly as Oakland preceeded to score 4 runs on 4 hits to take a 4-1 lead. In the bottom of the 2nd Texas came back and put 1 on the board on a Brad Fullmer Rbi single to make it 4-2. The Texas rangers would score 10 more times this game and win it easily 14-3. Texas's 3rd run came on a Rusty Greer single.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Bobby Kielty 3-5 4 RBI's
Wp-Tim Hudson (1-0)
Lp-Joquain Benoit (0-1)

Greer was injuried this game with an Infalmmed abdonimal muscle and will miss 1-2 weeks.

2 8th innings run kill Texas

Texas played rather well this game. the two runs in the 8th are what really cost us the game said Manager Buck Showalter. Here is the recap of all the action in this one. In the top of the 2nd scoring got under way as an error by the rightfielder allowed Durazo to score and Kotsay to reach 2nd. Texas would add another run a a ground out to make it 2-0 after 1 1/2. It would stay 2-0 until the bottom of the 4th when Mark Teixeira had an Rbi ground to make it 2-12 after 4 innings of play. But Oakland would answer the very next inning with an Rbi single from Mark ellis making it 3-1. Laynce Nix in the bottom of the 5th blasted a homer to make it 3-2 after 5. In the bottom of the sixth Texas would tie it up on an Rbi ground out by Mark Teixeira. It would stay 3-3 until the top of the 8th when C damian Miller had a 2 Rbi single to give the lead to Oakland for good as they went on to win 5-3. Texas has lost 4 straight and drops to 3-6 on the season and 1-5 at home.

Texas swept by Oakland at home!

Once again Texas loses at home and the crowd is really getting antsy there. Texas has lost 5 straight games all at home. Their record is now 3-7. The game went like this. Oakland would score 2 in the 1st off a 2 run homerun by Erubiel Durazo and would add 1 more in th 3rd. Oakland would end up taking this game 3-0 on a great pitching performance by Rich Harden.

Drese Only Pitcher Showing Promise

Drese this year has pitched great! He has pitched 13.1 innings and only allowed 1ER. 5 runs total have scored when he pitched. His ERA is AL best at 0.68. Drese has told the media his arm is feeling very good and he hopes to continue with his success. Everyone in Texas is shocked on how he is pitching. The 2nd lowest ERA on the team is Chan Ho Park's at 2.08 which isnt to bad.

TEXAS ENDS MONTH ON A GOOD NOTE

Texas played decent in the first month of the season going 12-11 and winning 9 of their past 13 games. The team is 1 game out of 1st in the wild AL west as Anaheim and Oakland sit atop tied at 13-10. We have played every Al West team at least 6 times already. We are 2-4 Vs Oakland, 2-5 Vs Anaheim and 5-1 Vs Seattle. We have only played 4 non division games so far against Kansas City and Boston going 3-1. We beat KC 2 times and Boston 1 time. So far this season on a scale of 1-10 i give our club a B.

Clubs Pitching Overview

Well i am rather surprised with the team pitching. We are 15th in the league with a 4.69 team ERA, 16th in opponents batting avg,
19th in team homeruns allowed, 28th in team walks, and 21st in teams runs allowed.

Biggest Surprise - Sp Ryan Drese and MR Erasmo Ramirez. These 2 pitchers are doing great this season. Drese is the best starting pitcher on the team so far with a record of 2-2 with a 1.75 ERA. Erasmo Ramirez is first on the team in Wins with 4. His record this season is outstanding at 4-0 with a 2.89 ERA. I expect these guys to continue on this pace espically Ramirez.

Team Leaders (Pitching Categories)
ERA-Ryan Drese (1.75) 3rd in ML
Wins-Erasmo Ramirez (4) T-2rd in ML
Saves-Francisco Cordero (6) T-4th in ML
Strikeouts-Chan Ho Park (26) T-19th in ML

Clubs Batting Overview

Well the batting has been just like the pitching medicore. We are 15th in the league with a .269 Batting avg, 14th in team homeruns with 26, 29th in team walks with 53, T-17th in stolen Bases with 14, and 20th in league with 110 runs scored.

Biggest Surprises

3B Hank Blalock and CF Laynce Nix have really been big so far this season. These two are really haveing spectacular seasons so far expically Hank Blalock. Blalock is batting .368 with 3 HR's and 11 RBI's. Nix is batting .286 with 3 HR's and 12 RBI's. I really expect these two players to continue and see no reason why they shouldnt.

Team Leaders (Batting Categories)

Batting Average-Hank Blalock (.368) T-13th in ML
Homeruns-Mark Teixeira (6) T-21st in ML
RBI's- Mark Teixeira (19) T-23rd in ML
