Question - About OOTP6

Ive been talking to the GM's i am getting for my sim and they asked me when the release will be. I dont want to be annoying

But will OOTP6 be released April 4 when Season Opener starts? Or later in June? Because if it starts Later in June ill probally start a ootp5 sim.

Thank you very much

One. More. Time.

Steve, your endurance astounds me. They don't pay you enough for this.

Or do they?

I don't see how that's an idiotic question or rude. I mean, ok it will be released when it's ready-- but OOTP is known for customer service, and it just seems to me that so many people are so eagerly awaiting this game, maybe somebody could throw us a bone as to when it might be ready. I don't really post here, but I do check everyday to see if OOTP6 information is up, although I understand that it will be released when it's ready, it has become really frustrating to see anyone that inquires about the release date brusquely told to read the signature that gives no information whatsoever. It doesn't take endurance to give your eager customers a little information. I'm not trying to be annoying, nor overly critical, it just seems to me that a company should be ecstatic that they have established such a frenzied fanbase and should do everything in their power to cater to them. I'm not asking for a set release date because obviously a deadline could affect the outcome of the game, but earlier it was said that the game was to come out before opening day, and seeing as it's only a few weeks away, I don't think it's rude at all to ask for un update. I want the game to be the best that it can be but I'd also like to know when I can play it.
Thanks for reading,
Mike

Give AntiBlazer a little bit of slack.

He has only posted 9 times and is not familiar with the board protocol yet.

I know when I first started posting, I made several mistakes in protocol in ignorance. It takes a little while to understand how to do things.

Let's give newcomers the benefit of the doubt.

And thanks for being patient with me (very computer-challenged)
many, many times.

Steve has been very patient with me. It is always appreciated.

Also to be fair to the people starting these threads --the sticky is easy to miss if you just give the board a cursory glance. It isn't usually at the very top and the subject is OOTP Ratings and Release info with nearly 200 responses. If a sticky was made that stuck to the very top with a clear title like ******RELEASE INFO HERE********, I bet these threads would be popping up a lot less.

I don't think anyone has a problem with the fact that people have asked when the game is coming out, but rather that they dont bother to look through the threads at all before asking. If they did, they would already have their answer, and wouldnt need to bug Steve about it.

See, the problem is, for the people who keep asking the same question about release dates, is that there isn't one yet. When they have a firm date, they will announce it, unlike another software company that like to hype their games, and then miss the dates. (.400) Markus wants to make sure that the game that comes out is bug free for everybody, unlike a certain software company(.400). I think Markus and Steve are going about this the right way. Keep up the good work guys.

Oh yeah, +1.

If it's not rude to ask for an update on the release date three weeks before the the date Markus himself said was the expected date - then it's also not rude to ask you to read the release information that was posted January 27th that said such. It just seems to me that asking for an update when we haven't even reachd the date originally posted is knowing what kind of answer your going to get.

Steve is being more than generous pointing you to the original post - if it were me I'd be tempted to delete the thread.

The above comments are the opinion of Henry, and not necessarily that of the management

I don't understand the big drama here over people asking the release date.

First, many new people don't read through every thread when they come here.

Second, there isn't a website for OOTP6, nor anything on the website about the release date being Spring of 2004.

The people asking are excited customers of the product. If you don't like seeing the thread, don't open it and read it. Everytime you guys make a post in it, it bumps it to the top. Then to top it off, you make joke threads about the topic. It seems that some of you actually look forward to cutting people down in these threads.

On a side note, I think the lack of a release date shows the game isn't close to being released. The efforts put into ITP probably pushed the progress in OOTP back a long ways. Being in the software business myself, I know the vaguer the release date, the farther from a finished product it is. Typically you will see companies like EA say their game will be released in Spring '04, then get to a specific date within a couple months. My honest guess would be May at the earliest for this game.

It doesn't bother me because OOTP5 is a great product and I never really saw things in the game that I wanted completely overhauled. I'm starting a sim in it right now and will be fine with it.
